I have been there and done that. Have written and spoken about it publically.

You don't feel humiliated. You feel strong and brave to take the only options

open to you at this time. You don't feel shame, you feel pride in taking care

of business any legal way you can. You are not going to malinger, you are

going to get back on your feet; you are not going to turn into a sloth, you

are going to rise again.

OTHER people might want to make you feel like dirt, OTHER people might sneer

at you. OTHER people might find reason to mind your business instead of their

own. But, YOU hold your head up. You DO what you need to in order to get to a

better day. Anyone harrasses you, tell em ceep is comin' to town, and she is

in a REAL bad mood.

love,

Ceep, former welfare mother, 1971-72. Testified as Expert Witness before the

Federal Congress on Welfare Reform, asking for attention not only to the two

corporate " m " s--money and management, but also to the much needed " third m, "

--MERCY on those who have little to nothing.

Yah Ceep, you tell 'im!!

Just a preface...I'm a conservative Orange Co. California person

(aerospace conservative) lived to Asia for 13 years, now in new age,

tofu, patchouli socialist Santa Cruz. Despite my world travels, I've

never been exposed to ideas like I am now, but what a heck of a place

to be for rebirth and self-exploration!! Everybody looks askance at

me because I'm a typical 40's blond overweight middle class soccer

Mom, but I've got a secret that they don't know. I don't know what

it is yet, but I'm working on it.

ANYWAY, what some friends of mine do is keep a resentment box. (a

shoebox they decorated and put a slot in on top). All month long

when they get p... off or have a resentment or someone says something

nasty, they write it down on a slip of paper and put it in the

resentment box. Then they go somewhere where there;s a fireplace or,

even better, an outside fire, or in dire straight a BBQ, and they one

by one read out the paper and toss, no throw, it into the fire. Then

they giggle and do a little dance around it and let it all go.

Now I haven't done this with other people. But I have done it

myself. sounds silly, but I tell you, there's something validating

about the whole thing. Maybe it's letting go of all the crap, or

maybe it's just acting like a kid, laughing and just plain letting go.

IT'S FUN!

You have been my saviour on soooooo many issues. I'm so sorry to hear about

your husband's recent job loss (and right before Christmas ... geeze!!). You

two deserve the very best of luck, and I am personally sending you LOTs of

positive vibes (albeit chilly ones from way up North here).

And I'm calling Bill (Gates) for you RIGHT NOW!!!! He needs your husband in

his employ!!!

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

No, No, NOOOOOO. I refuse to let the two of you go so just stop it

right here and now. I need all the help I can get. I really have

started relying on some old timers on several list. Please don't leave.

Good. Now about the pool. I can get in just fine. However, I either

need a crane OR some very good looking EMT's to get me out. Otherwise it

will have to wait until tomorrow when I have a home health aide here

okay.

My husband was laid off (his whole dept) Friday the 13th (Dec). He has

never been out of work since he was 16!

While an income would be nice, the worst part for us is medical ins. In WA,

you simply cannot buy ins that covers WLS (or any complications) privately

OR for a company with 51 or fewer employees. No, it's not here at all, in

this state. The last one pulled out in 2001.

I asked him to please go sweep floors for MicroSoft, as they've got the nest

ins. I've seen).

I have accepted food from a food bank (in the 70's), given food to banks

since then.

Judy, I totally, totally understand what you're saying. We're still shell

shocked.

If my husband could've been at work the following Monday, he WOULDA. Not

everyone WANTS to lollygag on unemployment. It's less work to hold a god job

than to jump thru all those hoops.

Unfortunately, we are surrounded by people like us, whose jobs were rock

solid, and then POOF. Gone. And I " m not talking Boeing. Other types of biz,

other things. And all long term, reliable employees. But that does not good

if the company is gone or the whole dept is just lopped off.

Like people would CHOOSE to stay on employment if a job was sitting there.

Sigh. What are they thinking?

I don't know how it happened to me. I've always HATED country music. If it

isn't oldies rock 'n roll, don't mess with my ears.

But it happened to my husband first. I had a choice in his car. Sports

(HERE?) or country. OK, it's not THAT bad any more.

Well, after a year of pretty constant exposure, I can sing along (ok, the

noise I make that I call singing), know the words, recognize many of the

artists. I'm trying not to, though, because it's just WRONG, cuz it ain't

rock 'n roll.

ANYWAY, all this is to say that the words are usually very cool. One I

rather like goes, " I'll never leave, I'll never stray..... I just wanna be

mad for awhile. "

Isn't that the truth? In marriage, with friends, on lists.

" I think I'm right, I think you're wrong (it says).......... " and yet, " I'm

not ready to make up yet. I just wanna be mad for awhile. "

I usta think every tiff had to be followed by abandonment, mine or " theirs "

(or his). But no, I just wanna be mad for awhile.

My most favorite country song right now is " Any man of mine better tow

the line " by Shania Twain. Describes my expectations of a mate to a T.

You think that might be why I'm not married yet? Haven't found a man yet

willing to tow the line.

Thanks very much. My husband is a salesman's salesman. If anyone has talked

to him, they know this. LOL! Like Microsoft needs a salesman. " Hello, I

sell this stuff. Very heard of it? " LOL!

Send snow along with those good vibes, OK? It's way better than food as a

comfort item.
