I was talking to the guy at my hospital who makes appointments for my

Internal Medicine doc. His wife had WLS over 20 years ago. He is a super

nice man and we talk whenever I call up there. I asked him how his wife did

years after the surgery (I don't know her age but he is in his early 60's so

I am guessing she is somewhere about the same). HE told me she kept the

weight off until about three years ago when she " blew out " (not sure what

she actually did) and had to have her knee joints replaced with some kind of

plastic joint. He told me after that she could not exercise for a long time

(over a year) and even now she can't really do much in the way of exercise

and she became very depressed and in the last two years or so has gained

most of her weight back.

He also told me to not let that discourage me. He said she kept it off

quite easily. She just followed the diet (99 percent of the time he said)

and exercised moderately and she never had problems.

I just thought someone might be interested since we rarely hear from someone

who had the surgery so long ago.
