Guest guest
Hi, I'd like to introduce myself. I am a 42yr old mother of 2 an 8yr old son and a 20yr old Daughter (ya, I know, lol). I have been obese all of my life. I suffered the taunts as a child in elementary school, class clown in high school, just to fit in. Then after I started having children I became Morbidly Obese. Hovering between 295 and 310 pds. After doing alot of research on WLS, I contacted a surgeon in St. , MN (where I'm from) and had an initial consultation at the end of July, 03. He informed me of what I would need to do in order to have the surgery. I had the blessing of my PCP, and my Pulminologist (Sleep Apnea), and finally, the Psychologist. I got a phone call 2 weeks ago, I have a date for Feb 3, 04 @ 11:30am. My insurance is Medica Choice, and they gave me no problem at all. I could of had it done in Dec, but financially I'm not ready. One of the first hurdles I had to overcome was smoking. Up until Sept. 03 I was a 3 pack a day smoker. By the 15th of Sept, I was down to 2 packs, and as of November 1st I am now smoke free and 10 pds lighter! Thankfully I didn't turn to food as a substitute. I can't believe the energy I have now. I am hoping to lose more weight before my surgery. I too, am off and on whether to have the surgery or try the old fashioned way, which I have done numerous times, and I'm still morbidly obese! Anyway, I guess that's enough for now.. lol.. my prayers are with those who will have their surgery soon!. I also have uploaded a Pre-Op list for anyone who is not sure what they need to have/do before surgery. I found it helpful, I hope you do to!
