Guest guest
Hey guys and gals, I've got another question on my mind. I'm 3 days post op and the swelling is severe. I notice that my nose is compressed (as expected with the reduction of my chin and upper jaw). But I also notice that my nostrils show a lot more right now. I'm hoping that it's just because of all the swelling around the nose. And I hope it doesn't show this much after I've healed. Anyone else experience large notrils due to swelling? Thanks again, Marco
Guest guest
I'll let someone else speak to the " large nostril " issue but I can say that what you see in the mirror today (day 3) is likely to change significantly over the next week or two. On day 3 I looked like a friggin' chipmunk! Jay > Hey guys and gals, > > I've got another question on my mind. I'm 3 days post op and the > swelling is severe. Guest guest
I had the same problem (right now I'm 6 weeks post-op). When I first saw myself the day after surgery it was pretty bad. I looked like porky pig because my cheeks were super swollen and my nose was pushed up and the nostrils were big. In addition to upper, lower and palatal split, I had a nasal turbinectomy on the right and left which did change the shape of my nose a bit. The nostrils looked big because of the way my upper lip had been stitched back together. It got better as the swelling went down. Right now I look pretty normal- -just a teeny bit of swelling that only I really notice. If you didn't know I had surgery you wouldn't even know anything was different. Although my nose looks a little different (not in a bad way--just different), the nostrils are fine. Just hang in there-- it'll get better. > Hey guys and gals, > > I've got another question on my mind. I'm 3 days post op and the > swelling is severe. Guest guest
I had upper and the swelling made my nose much wider and pushed it up off my face so that my nostrils were more prominent. Also my nose got very very stiff. You know how you can pinch your nose together? I couldnt. The sides of my nose were so swollen they were stiff and unmovable--frozen into place. Also the skin in the middle of my face and on my nose got so tight that even my clogged pores got pushed halfway out! You could see and feel them, but everythign was so tight I couldnt do anything about it. I dont remember how long exactly but it took atleast 3 1/2 weeks for my nose to become pliable again. It LOOKED like a nose before then, it just didnt feel like a nose. At 5 weeks my nose looked 95% like mine. Most of the swelling I notice near my nose is really still stuck in my cheeks. Oddly enough, one of my relatives thought that my swollen large, upturned nose was an intentional part of my surgery. They thought it was " cute. " My nose is naturally upturned a bit and I did not like it swollen even moreso. Not one bit. But their attitude was like, " Plastic surgery? Good for you! " Which was hysterical because it certainly did not look cute to me. And I certainly did not want that to be a result of the surgery! Its turning out ok though. My old nose is almost back. > > > > > Hey guys and gals, > > > > > > I've got another question on my mind. I'm 3 days post op and > the > > > swelling is severe.
