My sister had on an absolutely beautiful pantsuit and black slings that looked like it cost a fortune. Total price for all of it? $4.00. I couldn't believe it. I told her I wanted it, lol. Of course she said NO! lol. Guest guest
How often is everyone buying new clothes? I have not really bought anything new. Except bra's. My clothes were all tight before surgery and so now they are getting very lose, and some things have had to go because they just got sooo big on me. But since I don't work and spend alot of time at home I have just continued to wear what I have. I figure I will continue to do so until the damn things begin to fall off. I guess I am kinda cheap but I don't want to go to the expense of buying clothes in every new size. My friends keep asking me if I have bought new clothes (the ones who live out of state) and I keep telling them " no " . People can't believe that after losing 60 pounds that I can still wear the same clothes. Is anyone else holding out for new clothes until they are closer to goal? Guest guest
Candi, I haven't bought anything new. Just trying the clothes in my closet that I haven't worn for years. I still have my size 32 jeans that are almost completely falling off (the crotch hangs down to my knees....have to roll up the waist band to keep them on) and my 28s are just a bit big in the waist but way too big everywhere else however my 24's fit perfect. I'm holding out for Christmas when I'm going to try to talk my mother into letting me have her credit card lol. I'm going to hit Dillard's and JC Penny's and Kohl's and wherever else I can think of for a few necessities then wait till I hit my complete goal (another 145lbs)before buying anymore. Being a pre-service teacher though, you have to have a lot of professional clothes and most of mine are too big. Any one know of a good seamstress that will take them in for me???? T. Guest guest
hi candi, fortunately i had a whole size range of clothes in the closet. depends, sometimes i would pick up stuff on clearance, though i still have baggy clothes, esp for the gym. fitting into a new size is an exciting milestone, so even if i spent $12 on a pair of jeans, it's worth it! there was a time where i was in a new size every 2 or 3 weeks, pretty wild! oh & i kept a pair of pre-op pants as a reminder. lori h. > How often is everyone buying new clothes? > Is anyone else holding out for new clothes until they are closer to goal? > > Candi
Guest guest
I am waiting till I get much closer to goal. I have been up and down in the past, so I do have a few smaller clothes that are starting to fit me now. The problem is what do I do with all my BIG clothes? I have a pair of 26/28 pants I have never worn and are now too big. I did go buy a size 24 pants and was in a hurry, so I didn't try them on. They are quite loose. What a surprise! Guest guest
Hi Candi.. Funny thing... My surgery is in 3 weeks..and I am so excited! Today I took my " skinny " clothes out of storage box and going thru them... They range 18/20 to 22's. I haven't been in them in over a year. Now I am in stretched out 3x's that are way to tight... I am about 28/30 now. I am 252 now...and I know once I hit 200-210 range.. they will fit! It is my first mini goal! Anyhow.. I am not buying anything until those get to big. I am a SAHM and aside from a few Sunday Best clothes... most my day is spent in Big old cotton t's an jean shorts or knit shorts. (my baby is 12 months old and I live in south florida) I do long to dress up in nice casual clothes and go 'mall walking' and browsing the racks and picking up a 'normal' size.. Guest guest
I spend my day in much the same. Cotton t-shirts and shorts in the summer or sweats/jeans when it's cold (like now). I have a few smaller things that I will fit as I go along but not much. So maybe once I am desperate I will break down and buy some things. Candi Re: New Clothes Hi Candi.. Funny thing... Guest guest
Lol Wolfie! I haven't forgotten about those. I bought some skirts pre-surgery at a thrift store for 50cents each that I couldn't wear before surgery and now I can! I love to go to thrift stores! T. Guest guest
Luckily, I have a closet full of various sizes! I hope to be in size 14 by Thanksgiving, and wouldn't you know, that's the size that's buried in back of my rental closet! Have some 12s and 16s in the bedroom closet, so will just have to make do. I will likely hit the Thrift Stores for a few used items. Want to find a black tanktop dress so that I can wear various sizes of bright blouses and jackets over it - great for extending the wardrobe. Also, my surgeon's monthly support group has initiated a Clothing Exchange where you can bring in your old, too-large clothes and trade them in for smaller items. So, I'll be hitting that next week! > How often is everyone buying new clothes? I have not really bought anything > new. Except bra's. Guest guest
Candi, for the first six months I practically lived in Ross. I would try to keep each individual item of clothing at $10 or less and I would just buy what I needed.
