Guest guest
Don't know if your son's issue is related to stress or not. My hands are frequently cold but when stressed they become like ice and my nails turn bluish purple. It has happened since I was a kid. They chill to the point that they actually cramp a little. Like ice cramps (like when you have your hands in ice water). My own hands do this only during times of high stress. When my hands are cold due to low temperature outside etc they act much differently. No cramping, no discolored nails. Guest guest
No experience personally, but cold hands are a sign of Reynaud's syndrome. in NJ > > My son is 3.5 and has been going to special ed preschool now for > about 2 months, though its just been 2-3 days per week, 2 hour > sessions. > > Anyway, he's always been stressed about going to school. Guest guest
Maybe he has poor circulation or is anemic? Guest guest
It could be his thyroid. Have you had his TSH, T-3 Free and T-4 free checked - its a simple blood test. Something that could help with his stress is called GABA supplement given a couple times a day, a really good mult Vitamin, B-12 Vitamin as well each day. ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
yes i have. not only were they cold, they get sweaty. this happens to my son if doing something for the first time or when we are doing things with typical peers (cub scouts). he is def nervous but he always goes through with it. can you believe so young that they have stress like that. sometimes i could just cry. chris [ ] Cold Hands and Stress My son is 3.5 and has been going to special ed preschool now for about 2 months, though its just been 2-3 days per week, 2 hour sessions. Anyway, he's always been stressed about going to school. Since I have the van come and get him now it seems to help somewhat. But his teachers have asked me why his hands are so cold? I noticed it, to. At school, his hands are like ice. At home, they are fine. I'm going to ask his doctor, but other than that, I dont know what to do. I've done a little research and it seems to point to stress, which makes sense, as they get that way when I get him ready to go to school and once he is there. Has anyone else ran into this? Guest guest
My son has DSP with one of his first symptoms being his inability to feel pain and temperature which cleared up quickly with OT. He also has trouble regulating body temperature. I brought this up with his OT today and he thinks it is part of his sensory/overall regulating issues. > > yes i have. not only were they cold, they get sweaty. this happens to my son if doing something for the first time or when we are doing things with typical peers (cub scouts). he is def nervous but he always goes through with it. can you believe so young that they have stress like that. sometimes i could just cry. > chris > > > [ ] Cold Hands and Stress > > My son is 3.5 and has been going to special ed preschool now for > about 2 months, though its just been 2-3 days per week, 2 hour > sessions. > > Anyway, he's always been stressed about going to school.
