Guest guest
The constipation is strange to me as my doc said fish oil should cause diarrhea. I wonder if it is a soy allergy as I think NN has small amt of soy in it. If it were me I'd ask NN about ingredients, specifically soy and metals. Just a thought. I am simply a curious mom, not and expert of any kind and have not supplemented yet. vakinderegg wrote: >I have been reading all the posts about Omegas and other vitamin >supplements. Guest guest
When I tried to give my son 3 doses a day of fish oils he got diarrhea. Also he is on prescription Carnitine and can only tolerate it once a day or he gets diarrhea. He is 34 pounds and 4 years old. > > >I have been reading all the posts about Omegas and other vitamin > >supplements. Guest guest
The NN Omegas did not cause the constipation. She has had it since an infant. I just stopped giving her all supplements until her constipation was under control. Now that we have a handle on it I want to reintroduce supplements. I am not sure if we should start Omegas again or Carnaware. I just needed some insight on Carnaware. What I am reading about it ...Carnaware has about the same success rate with children as Omegas...am I right?
Guest guest
A sudden increase in any type of oil to a child or adult's diet may cause diarrhea. (That would include pizza oil) Just raise the dosage of oil a bit slower. First cut back a bit and then raise - so the body can adjust. If one checks the archives -the diarrhea is not unusual, and typically gone in a week. And the pros of the oils...put it this way -most of us with kids on fish oils are no longer part of this group because our kids are as close to normal now as anyone else. Some of us stick around to remind the new people of what we went through -but it's all in the archives. (almost all new questions were also questions asked years ago) =====
Guest guest
I am beginning to realize that soy makes Mark drowsy as well. I was giving him Lecithin but no longer... We get the best results when we up the concentrations of EPA. Janice [sPAM] Re: [ ] Carnaware vs Omegas The constipation is strange to me as my doc said fish oil should cause diarrhea. Guest guest
Not sure of recent posts -but in history carnaware is not at all close to the success rate of the correct formula of fish oil. (the correct formula is most important or fish oils will not work) The right formula of fish oils will work even at a too low dosage -I know because our group apparently followed a too low dosage for years and still almost all surged with moderate to amazing surges. Carnaware historically speaking in this group has had great results for about the same number as those who find GFCF effective -some. For my son Tanner at one time carnaware was a positive -but for some reason he would regress if left on too long -so we always had to supplement on an on and off schedule. He'd surge when first put on -and then we'd take him off when he started to regress a bit -and he'd surge when taken off. Nobody could ever explain why to me -but we no longer supplement with either carnaware or the carnosine powder. On the other hand Tanner still needs to be on fish oils -and now vitamin E - every day, or in even one day his speech regresses and isn't as clear. =====
Guest guest
Thanks! I am going to place my order with NN again! Guest guest
What do eggs do? I see great progress with them. Admittedly our diet is limited as we learn the ropes but what I see today concerns me. Lots of open mouth that was gone before eggs. I don't think he can't have eggs so much as that he can't have them 3 days in a row. Any thoughts? Janice wrote: >I am beginning to realize that soy makes Mark drowsy as well. Guest guest
We don't seem to have any problem with eggs just the vitamin supplement. While I noticed an increase in auditory initially, I also noticed a problem after a couple of days with the supplement. The eggs themselves seem to be no problem though. Wonder why? Guest guest
I would give both - they don't work in the same way or conflict with each other in any way. The typical dose of carnaware is 4 caps/day (800 mg). If you are already giving your child vit E and zinc, you could probably try another brand of carnosine besides carnaware. Have you tried giving magnesium and vit C for the constipation? > > I have been reading all the posts about Omegas and other vitamin > supplements.
