from what i've gathered these past 2 years of researching, the

average death rate is .5% or 1 in 200 people. i imagine it's

different when it comes to different docs.

That's what I was told also, but in one of the meetings I went to as a

pre-op, the Dr. said that it's important to analyze the data based on

your own demographic. For instance, the mortality rate increases if you

are older (50+ on average), have a higher BMI (60+) or if you have

additional medical conditions.

He explained it to me for example:

Me 35, healthy female, BMI = 41 statistically chance of death 1 in

about 5,000

Other, 56yo female with HBP, diabetes, BMI = 63 statistically chance

of death maybe 1 in about 80

and of course everywhere in between.

(these aren't actual statistics, just the examples he gave).
