Hi..my name is Barbara, I am from West Nyack, NY and my son (29

months) has been diagnosed with verbal apraxia. When he was 20 months

I knew something was wrong when he didn't say anything. He did say

some words just after his 1 year birthday, but around 17 months he

stopped.

Even though my pediatrician said to wait, I decided to get him

evaluated. When we began EI, he got speech 2x a week and special ed

2x a week. Afterlearning how to be a very pushy mom, he now gets

speech therapy 3x a week and is attending a preschool for children

with special needs 5 days a week.

I am still going thru my own dealing with learning of his disability

and now I am trying to find some support from others who have children

going thru this.
