Guest guest
Since I know some of you had diabetes as a comorbid i thought i would ask. My husband was just recently diagnosed with bordline diabetes. He is taking two meds by mouth. One twice a day and one once a day! I am trying to find out (since i didnt go to the dr with him) how much sugar grams he is allowed a day or what it is he should actually be watching on his diet! Thanks for taking the time! crystal

I tried to always steer clear of any sugars. I wasn't always successful but I knew what I was suppose to do. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I am also a diabetic taking 2 meds 1 twice a day 1 once a day... Breads, Spagetti sauces , pasta's...Sodas need to be avoided... My Dr said to me all bread will turn to sugar. The less he can eat the better he will be. He has to alter his whole way of eatting. Avoid the late nite snacks. If he must have ice cream eat sugar free. Soda is a big one. If he dislikes the diet soda one i found that really doesnt taste like diet is Pepsi One... I also think diet turkey hill ice tea or the crystal lites are good... There are alot of thinks that will send sugar numbers up... I eat chinese food it goes up. You just have know thats why and make sure that he watches what he eats... I found that in beginning keeping a log of meals and snacks along with accu ck numbers will show him what is happening with the foods he eats... Remember that testing after meals will usually not give you a somewhat accurate number till about 90 minutes post meal... Sorry if this doesnt make sense I kinda have trouble writing when it comes to stuff like this... .............................Cori
Guest guest
I never counted sugar grams. It's all about Carbs. Remember almost everything turns to sugar in your body. It just depends on how fast. Your husband should see a dietician and they can best tell you how man carbs, fat, protein per day. I was allowed 10-12 carb selections per day. 15 grams of carbs equal 1 selection. So essentially like a piece of bread is 1 selection. But now I am on far far less. Candi SO non WLS related but I need help. Since I know some of you had diabetes as a comorbid i thought i would ask. My husband was just recently diagnosed with bordline diabetes.
