Hello everyone!

I am in Ft Lauderdale.

I live with my Husband Bill and our 12 month old son Noah.

Noah was born 2 months early... undetermined causes.

I started my pregnancy at 195 lbs and 7 months later was 234lbs. (I am 5 Ft)

6 months later I was pregnant again..and ended up with a traumatic miscarriage

in July.

Final weight 250lbs. My all time high back in 96 was was 260lbs... then thanks

to Phen/fen I lost 70 lbs.

I then lost and gained the same 40 lbs for the next couple of years.

So.. in August I started to search for doctors and hospitals and surgeons on my

plan. I have Great West/One Health Plan.

I was sooo discouraged... some of the local hospitals have the Bariatric

Programs.

Those Hospitals were on my insurance... but the surgeons weren't!

Finally.. I found hospital/surgeon combo out of West Palm Beach.. Dr. Liem.

August I saw my PCP for the referral.

September I saw the surgeon.

October Insurance company said they wanted a psych eval.

October 8th I saw the shrink.

Today..... November 4, 2003 the office called.

I am approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surgery is set for December 2, 2003!

I look foward to getting to know you all... hear about your surgeries... good

and bad.

This year... I am keeping my New Years Resolution!!!!!!!!!!!

welcome mary k! wtg on your surgery date. nice to have another south

floridian on board.

i'm 18 months post-op, can't tell you it's been easy, or smooth, or

without MAJOR sacrifices & heartbreak, but it's all been worth it. in

spite of any price i've paid & continue to pay, i wouldn't go back to

my MO existence for anything!
