Guest guest
hi everyone i had my wls on 10-28-03 sp far i have lost 7lbs and i know that this is good but if you have read my other post you will see that i have a problem with dumping. i mean i really can not keep anything down what ever i drink within 15 mins it comes back up. yesterday was the first day that i had an appetite and i ate some pureed peaches but that only lasted about 15 mins too. i am trying to make myself stay a wake during the day so that i sleep at night but part of my problem is my pain med that they gave me is in liquid form and nothing will stay down so i can't take that so then i am up off and on all night because i can not get comfortable in my own bed. the past 2 nights i have slept on the couch so that my tossing and turning did not keep my husband awake but now my back is hurting from sleeping on the couch. i allmost feel like i've made a mistake doing this sugery. i do not want to scare anyone out there and yes i know it has only been 6 days since my sugery but i thought i would feel mu better than i do right now. thanks for listening nora post op 10-28-03 292/285/
Guest guest
Nora I think you should talk to your doctor. If you are keeping nothing down at all you are bound to become dehydrated. He can perhaps prescribe something to help or he might just want to check you out to see why this is happening. Guest guest
hi nora, your concern is very legitimate, so don't worry. contact your doc's office & try to keep hydrated. tell them you can't keep anything down. you system needs nutrients, so be sure you're insistent when you contact them. & yes, we've posted about the magic of recliners, i'm renting one for my reconst surg. lori h. > hi everyone i had my wls on 10-28-03 sp far i have lost 7lbs and i > know that this is good but if you have read my other post you will > see that i have a problem with dumping. i mean i really can not keep > anything down what ever i drink within 15 mins it comes back up. > yesterday was the first day that i had an appetite and i ate some > pureed peaches but that only lasted about 15 mins too. i am trying to > make myself stay a wake during the day so that i sleep at night but > part of my problem is my pain med that they gave me is in liquid form > and nothing will stay down so i can't take that so then i am up off > and on all night because i can not get comfortable in my own bed. the > past 2 nights i have slept on the couch so that my tossing and > turning did not keep my husband awake but now my back is hurting from > sleeping on the couch. i allmost feel like i've made a mistake doing > this sugery. i do not want to scare anyone out there and yes i know > it has only been 6 days since my sugery but i thought i would feel mu > better than i do right now. thanks for listening > > nora > post op > 10-28-03 > 292/285/
Guest guest
Nora I don " t know if you remember but I had surgery done at hurley on 10/20/03. I do think you need to call the dr. about your throwing up. You definetely have to be dehydrated. Are you nauseated before you try to drink? Are you using your Reglan, Scopolamine patch and compazine for the Nausea? I assume that you had the same meds prescribed as I did. If you are not nauseated, are you passing gas from below? maybe your bowel is getting lazy. Are you drinking only 1-2 0z of fluids over 15 minutes? Make sure you are not drinking to fast. As for the medications I found That is I take them with natural applesauce they go down good. The crushed and the liquid. You didn't make a mistake having surgery. You just have to figure out what works for you . Yes it is normal to be so tired after surgery. You are also having the complication of not keeping anything down, that has to be making you more tired. Call the DR. and I'll be tinking about you. E-mail me direct if you want. Guest guest
I had my surgery last Wednesday and I haven't had a problem with dumping. But I am not supposed to eat fruit of any kind. I eat jello's, pudding's..suger free of course. And am on the pureed now and haven't had any problems. But I stay away from sugar. Maybe that will help. I have lost 15 lb's already also..I was shocked... Pam
Guest guest
I was also tossing up everything I ate. When I went in to see my surgeon he scheduled a scope to check my tummy out and the opening that is supposed to be the size of a dime had almost completely closed. I could barely hold liquids because it had no where to drain. PLEASE go get checked. Hazel
