Guest guest
I heard that soft drinks are going to start using splenda instead of nutrasweet and they will taste a lot better. I use splenda and it is really quite good, I bake a peach cobbler using the grandulated splenda and you really could not tell that it was diet. A. B. LAP RNY 3/22/03 Dr. Steve Weinstein, MD. Guest guest
Hi I thought I would add my 2 cents here. I am almost 6 months post op. I drink soda occasionally. Its not really recommended by my surgeon because of the empry calories, but he told me that the " pouch bursting " thing isnt true - you would burp long before your tough stretchy pouch would burst. I know that some surgeons tell their patients about the bursting thing, so its just a matter of different opinions on the subject. I am an RN and I tend to agree with my surgeon - I have certainly never heard of anyone's pouch rupturing because of carbonation. But its ultimately up to the individual whether or not to drink it. One that I have found that I really like is Diet Sprite. It doesnt taste like " diet " and it has no calories - of course it doesnt have any caffeine either and thats why you said you drank soda. Crystal Lite is a diet drink jus the way it is - only 5 calories per serving. Good luck to you! ~ami~ LAP RNY 5-13-03 with stricture repair 9-9-03 261/192.5/130 In a message dated 11/3/2003 1:17:17 PM Central Standard Time, leslieileen31@... writes: > Hello All, > I have a couple of questions for all you post op's. Guest guest
, I have heard of a lot of people that use sugar free instant breakfast. I personally don't drink protein drinks and I do fine with my meals and eating yogurt, each little container of lite yogurt (Walmart brand) has 7 GMs of protein and then I get my eggs and meat. I have had very minimal hair loss and it is natural to lose hair just from the anesthesia. A. B. LAP RNY 3/22/03 Dr. Steve Weinstein, MD. Guest guest
The only diet soda I can stand is diet Ginger ale. It's not so sweet. But I open it up and let it get almost completely flat before I drink it also. Candi ???'s for post ops Hello All, I have a couple of questions for all you post op's. Guest guest
When I advanced to full liquids after surgery, they put SF Carnation Instant Breakfast on my tray with added protien powder. It was thick and very hard for me to drink. I tried to keep this up at home, but it was too chalky and hard for me to drink. I have a hard time with the fluid intake too and try to keep a bottle of water in my pocket. LOL! I do occaisonaly have some sips of semi-flat soda, but this is mostly for the taste. I also have some V8 around. I try to drink 4 oz a day. Arizona Iced Tea makes a pretty good instant diet tea, BTW, Sharon RNY LAP 7-17-03 Re: ???'s for post ops OK I know that you can not have soda until you are so far post-op. Guest guest
I use the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast with a scoop of non-flavored powdered protein...I could not stomach the ProComplex or the Isopure, made me GAG!!! so adding the protein I get about 23 grams of protein for one serving...I also add the protein to my soups and get about 11 more from just the added protein...also, SF Tang is great...has the vitamin C and makes me not want Orange juice so much(I miss orange juice a lot)...I also buy the regular kool-aid packets and just use Splenda instead of reg sugar...discovered that a few days ago cuz I don't care for Crystal Lite...Good Luck... ~Hannah > OK I know that you can not have soda until you are so far post-op. > I was wondering what drinks you could drink besides soda.I enjoy > crystal lite so that is no problem...and as for as Protien drinks... > what is a good one that is pretty cheap...I know after the surgury > you have to get in protien but I font know if I drink the protien > shakes...Has anyone used the CARNATION BREAKFAST drink....and is it > ok to use??? > Thanks again for all ya'lls help... >
Guest guest
I drank it instead of protein drinks because I could not stand the taste (of the protein drinks that is). They taste ok. Sort of like Chocolate Milk. Candi Re: ???'s for post ops OK I know that you can not have soda until you are so far post-op.
