Guest guest
I am at the end of the process of all the preliminary things I need to do prior to getting a surgery date. I have seen the pulmonary doctor, had a consult with the surgeon, gone to a support group meeting, taken the psych questions ( too many) this week I am going to the second part --- meet with the psych. and have an ultra sound! When this is all over I can schedule surgery! Already have insurance approval! I have been trying to investigate as many aspects of the surgery --- both good and bad to make an educated decision. I read the posts and information from all of you daily and have learned a lot. I have many questions but one I really want to know is --- anyone know the longer range effects good and bad --- I am talking 5 -- 10 years out! I really want to do this but I want to get an idea of long term! This is a big decision and should not be taken lightly! It will change my life drastically -- hopefully for the better! I am 54 and want to be around to see my wonderful grandchildren grow up! I want to feel good, too! As I said I am 54 --- 5'6 " and between 255-260! I have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, incontenience, aches and pains constantly joints etc, high chloresterol, shortness of breath etc. I am tired of hurting and feeling lousy everyday! I am also scared and nervous!! One minute I know this is what I want to do for a better life and the next I have questions! I need info from all of you --- the experts --- or at least those who have been through it! Please try and help me in my quest to make the right choice! I am hoping to have surgery ( pending decision) a week before swinter break --- since I will have that week and then 2 more weeks of break before returning to school in Jan. Yes I teach ( special educ ) Looking forward to your thoughts! Oh yes congrats on all your success!
