I've been calling the Dr., the Board of Ed.'s insurance consultant, the insurance co. all day; all I get are recorded messages...grrrrrrr.......looks like I need some precognition and luck now for myself!

Marcia,

I guess it is even worse to not know if you are approved than it is to hear you are approved and then the insurance company tell you they know nothing of it. Please let us know if you hear anything soon ok?

On with the continuing saga...Got the Dr's office today; was given a phone # and a contact at the insurance co. Dr's office said I got approval, insurance co. said I don't need pre-certification (they kept me on tenterhooks for 2 1/2 months to tell me I didn't need approval!!!!!!!!!!!!) BUT, "they'll get back to me about the "three comments?" I said "what three comments?" They said...you guessed it..."we'll get back to you." I think I'm not going to have to wait 'til after surgery to start losing hair.... I'm pulling it out now in frustration! BUREAUCRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is your quest coming? Any word on your approval yet? Let me know; we can commiserate with each other.

With fond hopes for success for both of us

Marcia

I had the sleeve gastrectomy on Dec. 5 and am now having the second part on

June 26. I am so excited yet petrified at the same time.

Hi Terry-- congrats on the approval -- can you tell me how much you lost with just the sleeve? And what was your starting BMI?

Don't forget, Terry, we're surgery sisters. I'm having mine the same day

downtown at NYU. Pre-admit tests on the 19th. Let's keep all our chins up (I

have at least three!)'cause I'm feeling exactly the same as you!

Congrats, Terry!!

I'm betting you do terrific- seems to me that (& I definitely may be

wrong, lol.. I often am...) the sleeve gastrectomy part would be

harder to recover from, so here's hoping you're up & running after

your switch is completed!

Although I am pretty new to the group, I wanted to share in a moment

of happiness that everyone here can understand.

I had been really uptight waiting for insurance approval, as I have

heard so many horror stories. I am in a pleasant sort of shock that

I was approved in 2 weeks.

My advice to those who are in the process of getting their paperwork

together for insurance approval is to do your homework... I read

my benefit handbook, asked others who had been approved by my same

insurance carrier for advice, and made sure all my ducks were in a

row. I got letters from my PCP stating history of being overweight,

and diet history etc. I also made sure I satisfied every criteria

that the insurance company was looking for so that there was no way

they could say no.

My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 2!!

Hi ,

Congratulations on the GHT approval. We give his shots after

he is asleep. I don't even think he knows that he gets them.
