Guest guest
, I've done the up and down thing with the same five pounds. I thought I was the only one who had ever shown a gain! I know it is hard not to obsess over those pounds (and believe me, I obsess very very well!), but slowly but surely that total of pounds lost will add up. It seems so slow sometimes, and there are always others who have lost more and are losing faster, but it really does add up! Another thing I, personally, would recommend is to weigh only once per week. I know others weigh daily, but for me seeing those gains and the stalling out on weight loss was just nerve wracking. I'm not always perfect about staying off the scale, but I don't care what it says, good or bad, the only weight that " counts " for me is the one on Friday a.m. That's my official weigh in day (since my surgery was on a Friday). As you get farther out from surgery and your body heals, and you are able to exercise more, hopefully the weight will come off even faster. Please try not to be discouraged! Guest guest
- I think you have to look at " percentage lost " and not " pounds lost " . You've lost about 10% of your body's starting weight - at 6 weeks I had lost 12% of my body's starting weight. So I'd say you're close to being right on track. Guest guest
Yes, , it's plateau time. I hit it at six weeks also. That five pounds will go and not come back soon. And then a few more with it. My weight loss is not a slow and steady one, it's more like stop and start. I have quit weighing myself everyday and it really helps. I've lost around 56 pounds and I've needlessly worried each pound of it. IT WILL COME OFF. Take care, Joann in Mobile
Guest guest
I hit the plateau going on to my 6 weeks but have decided not worry about it...except to start drinking more crystal light and less juices. From what I have read on this list I know it is a temporary thing at the beginning. In a year I will be more concerned with plateaus. I have been weighing every Tuesday but does it work better to do it once a month?
Guest guest
Hi I have been doing the 5 lbs thing for a couple weeks now. I also want to tell you that I hit a major stall when I was 2 months post-op that seemed to last for 4-5 weeks. I remember thinking " Is this it???I wnt through all this and this is it! " but the scales started moving. I haven't lost as fast as some but I'll be 6 months post-op on August 16 and right now I have lost approx. 80 lbs. Without surgery there's no telling how much I could have gained in this time period so I'm thankful. A friend of mine that had the DS one week after me went through the same kind of stall soon after surgery. Kerri, Two weeks after my surgery I hit a plateau and didn't think I would ever get it to move, then BAMMMMMMMM it started moving and then I hit another slow time. I know that nothing makes ya feel better to know this but I have now hid my scales. They are the most discouraging thing to be around when you have had surgery and if your like most including myself you want the weight to be off of ya when you wake up in the morning. lol. Just retire the scales and keep doing like your suppose to and you will do just fine. Wolfie " Keep Em Laughing " Leeds, Alabama Lap RNY /And choly August 27,2003 Dr. Lee A. Guest guest
I hit my first when I was 4 weeks and after about 4 days of varying between 2-4 pounds each day(weighing in the morning before eating or drinking)...I decided that I was weighing too much(everyday) and decided to weigh in once a week because I was getting seriously frustrated...I was also not exercising as much as I should have been, but hadn't changed my diet...and I also realized that even though I was not losing pounds I was still losing inches(as I found out when I slipped on a pair of my fav pants and they were loose...woooohooooo)...from what I have gathered from the posting everyone hits plateaus at different times...and also I have learned...water, protein, water, protein...they are best friends!!
