Guest guest
I just had my first month post-op appt with my PCP. I've lost 17 pounds since October 3. I'm not particularly thrilled with this either, but look at our situation!!!! We are not able to eat more than what, 300 - 500 calories a day? How can we possibly not lose weight. So it's going a little slower than we want, but there'absolutely no way we're not going to lose almost all of it unless we are able to start shoving lots of sugar and carbs into us. I think if we go a little slower we wont lose as much hair as other people are as well!!! Plus, I know that I have lost a lot of inches cuz I'm fitting into lots of 1x's already when I was just a 3x a month ago. We also should not panic when we get to a plateau, because while we may not be dropping pounds quickly, our bodies are re-arranging themselves and we are losing inches during this " plateau " . Also, I've decided that I'm not weighing myself more than once every few weeks or so. CHILL!!! IT WILL ABSOLUTELY HAPPEN!!!! COME ON FOLKS, LET'S STAY POSITIVE!!!!! Guest guest
I just had my one month appt too. I also had my surgery on Oct 3. I have lost an even 20. I was VERY disappointed. She reassured me that this is not a race and 20 pounds in a little over 3 weeks is a VERY good weight loss. Can you imagine if we had done that much with " diet and exercise " ? We would've been excited. She also is sending me back to work and she assured me that when I start working again the loss will speed up. I have to be honest that I haven't been exercising like I'm supposed to either. I might get a walk in twice a week. So, the moral of the story is this is all normal. She also told me there are two kinds of people: those who lose quickly and then plateau and then there's us those who lose slowly for the first few months and then lose like crazy. I'm just glad to be on the losing side. The inches that are coming off are amazing though aren't they? I guess we need to relax, kick up the exercise and just enjoy the ride. Good luck to you. ---In Gastric_Bypass_Family , " legalsec102 " wrote: > I just had my first month post-op appt with my PCP. I've lost 17 > pounds since October 3. Guest guest
, Thank you for agreeing with me!!!! The loss of inches is truly amazing. My family makes me feel like I look like I've lost 50 lbs or something!!! They're all gushing!!! I also have not been doing the walking I'm supposed to. I went back to work one week post sugery cuz I'm a secty and I sit all day. I overdid it on day 13, I went dancing cuz I felt so good and told myself that dancing was just " fast walking " !!! WRONG!!! The next day (Friday) I was in agony!!! Pain at the left side site was going up to a " 9 " . So I decided instead of going to the hospital, to take it easy for a couple of days (actually my DH suggested this) and by Monday I was pretty much okay and now I feel fine. I mentioned this to my surgeon at my support group meeting and he said all I did was pull muscles and that rest was just should have done!! So now that I feel better again, I am going to resume my walks. CONGRATS ON THE 20!!!!! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!! LoriB > > I just had my first month post-op appt with my PCP. Guest guest
I agree, I had my surgery on 9/29/03 and I posted a message recently because I was stressed out at the amount of weight I had lost, but I realized the other day that I haven't changed anything and I am actually exercising more, and I have lost inches...I was becoming obsessed with the scale and decided that once a week was appropriate for me to weigh in...I became distracted by the scale because this is the first time in my life that I can be assured that when I step on it, it will be the same or I will have lost...hoooooooooorah! Anyway, everyone's body is different and remembering that makes a difference...Thanks LoriB for the insight, I know it helped me... :0) > I just had my first month post-op appt with my PCP.
