LOL... You don't know how relieved I am to know someone else is

having trouble figuring out how many dress sizes they lost and how to

go about shopping in the new size range. I started laughing when I

read yours... but I think you definately have a clearer take on it

than I do.

Don't make that " harder to heal " stuff a self-fulfilling prophecy. I

had a really easy surgery. Mine was only lower, which I do think is

a lot easier. But I've known people who've gone sailing through two-

jaw stuff..

Best suggestions:

A microwave oven, a pyrex 4-cup measuring cup and a stick blender

and lots of soups. (As an Ivan survivor, with no kitchen at all, not

even a light bulb, nor a sink, oh how I wish!!!)

That's easy cleanup, (if you have a sink, which I hope you do!) and

lots of good meals. If you're offended by the additives, salt, meat,

etc., get a good protein supplement and fiddle with whatever

smoothie, shake, protein blends work for you.

Give your body what it needs for the healing, and move around as

much as you are able. Rest when you need. but don't stay flat.

Come here and vent if you want, and ask what you want. Probably

someone will have had any problem you may develop (not that you'll

have any) and be able to offer advice.

Best advice, ever, though: Call your surgeon if something is

worrying you.

And nope. You're a ninfant -- even more than Fiddly. I was 56,

nearly 57, when I had lower advancement. So you're young and strong

and should do well!

Hi Sadie:

Glad to hear I have a buddy to help get me through this.

Consultation appt. when okay on Friday. The OS stated that he is

going to segment the upper jaw in 3 places to widen the upper palate,

along with moving the upper jaw forward and down. He called all of

this some long name, but I made him explain it to me in English...

(haha) Anyway, he stated that the surgery could be as soon as 3

weeks after the OD gives his final go ahead. He stated that it

sounds like the OD is planning on giving the okay at my December 6th

appt. being that he is removing the upper archwire and replacing it

with surgical wires. So if this is the case, I am looking at a

January surgery. I will keep you posted as soon as I have an exact

date. What type of surgery are you having?

Hi Sadie,

No, I haven't prepared at all for the surgery (except for asking for

time off work). Luckily, my parents are in the area, so they will

help out. My husband will be useless, because he works a lot (and

will be working nights when I have the surgery). I also have a 2 year

old to take care of, but the babysitter should be around for that. I

hope I will be able to handle most discomforts by myself. I just want

this whole thing to be over with.

I'm in CT, and my surgery will be in Hartford Hospital.

comfortable robe...
