Guest guest
Kerri, Everyone feels that " What have I done " feeling. It's absolutely normal. I felt that way for about 3 weeks afterwards. The feeling will pass believe me. Especially once you start seeing the weight fall off. I'm surprised the hospital staff let you leave without having a bm. Well, I can't really say that because I left without having one but at the same time...I fibbed a little about it. It was about 2-3 days after I got home that I had one and it hurt like a witch. Best advice that I have is to take something like Milk of Magnesia (tastes gross but works!) or Metamucil or something. They will help move things along (pardon the pun). Hope this helps!!! T. Guest guest
Kerri I felt the same way right after surgery. I really wondered if I was ever going to feel better. Some people seem to feel the pain and such more than others. You will feel better. It may take a couple of weeks but after that you won't even remember the pain. I will be honest and tell you that it took 4 weeks for my pain to be completely gone. Although the last week was more discomfort than pain. So never fear...it will get better. I started out taking two bites after surgery and that was it for me. My pouch hurt when I ate and I was miserable. But now I am 6 weeks and I can eat pretty much whatever I want to (within reason of course). I just eat very small amounts. You will too. Candi What Have I done !!!! Guest guest
Hang in there, the pain will go away, little by little day by day. Do you have children? Kind of like the pain that comes with child birth. it will be forgotten as you loose the weight and you will see the outcome of a new future for you. As for the bowels don't worry about that, you are only on liquids right now. I had my first post op BM a week later. If you still feel like you need to go, ask your DR about a stool softener or laxative before taking any. Sharon RNY LAP 7-17-03 Dr. Miami Hope Center 315/245/150 What Have I done !!!! Guest guest
kerrie, as an RN and a person with a lot of personal surgery experience - don't worry about the BM - it will come -- i will say begin preparation for when it does come -- after my 2 c-sections it was BAD - after GBP it took 2 weeks and it was pretty painful but not as painful and drawn out as the c-sections....it is normal that when they do surgery in the body your intestines shut down and it takes them time to wake up and in the meantime we are piling food in there - thats why the 1st is the worst - i even took the stool softeners and laxatives and they didn't help much - maybe someone else has a suggestion to make it easier - but- it is normal. visit our website www.geocities.com/tanyarn96/countryside.html www.poncetihomes.com -- Re: What Have I done !!!!
