Guest guest
Dear Stacey: There is a risk at anything you do. There is a risk to every medical procedure. But the risk is very small and the benefits of this surgery far out weight the risk. The surgery has saved my life. I was a bigger risk for this surgery because of my age and medical condition. I am 59 years old and weighed almost 400 lb., I am in a wheelchair, I have heart problems, an aortic aneurysm, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic bronical asthma, very bad spinal stenosis and spinal deterioration, and I WAS a diabetic, and I HAD High blood pressure that was going to cause the aneurysm to rupture. I know longer have diabetes or high blood pressure. I am even able to get around some in the house now without my wheelchair. I was doomed without the surgery and now I have hope for a better life and more time with my family. I made the choice to take the chance and I went through it all with no problems. I have not been sick at all. Even though I weighed almost 400# I was still able to have a LAP. I was only in the hospital 2 days and as of this day I have lost 91 pounds. A. B. Guest guest
hi stacy. have you tried asbs.org? they're excellent, you can even email 'em questions or concerns. may i ask how old your son is? i placed all my trust in the Lord. plus, i heard that the drive to the hospital is more dangerous than surg, esp driving in miami:-) lori h. > i need to know where i can find the most resent research done on this RNY surgery. my oldest son read the so so sad email i reviewed and now says no one can die from it. i have tried to get him to understand but he still says he don't know someone would have it if they might die from it.I know obesity.com and gastricbypass.com is good but is there where else. > i have been fighting with my ins company for over two yrs now they are willing to pay he is saying stuff like will now you can die if you have it.i have giving him stuff to read about this surgery but until today he understand it is a good way for some people to get healthy and change their life's .
