With the current theory that my son has generalized malabsorption

problems I was curious about cystic fibrosis. We live in NJ and I know

that he and my daughter were tested at birth and the results were

negative. I am just curious about the reliability of the testing. From

the little bit I know about CF it involves pancreatic insufficiency,

malabsorption and breathing difficulties. I would think he'd have had

more respiratory problems (though he had striders for over a year) for

it to be CF but after missing so much and learning that there are often

more than one test for everything and some are more reliable than others

I was afraid not to ask.

Thanks much!

Liz

THIS IS NOT CF. This is something yet undefined, affecting a great

number of children. There is an allergic component...which is where

the respiratory symptoms are coming in (asthma). Allergy of the gut

and lungs - it seems. Not a stretch to pull the symptoms together.

But not CF. Don't worry about things you don't need to worry about.
