> I know the feeling, my son is just 27 months and I get scared too, but I don't

suppose there is any thing we can do to keep them here longer then you-know who

wants them here. I know that may sound harsh, but I have put my faith in someone

stronger and more powerful than the doc.s so I just thank Him everyday for

letting me have one more day with my son, even if it may be his last. I feel

that is all we can do. I will keep your son in my prayers for a speedy recovery

Scream all you want baby! On this list it is not unusual and you are not alone

in your ranting. We all flounder.

Sometimes I think life is as sticky as the stuff that my kid coughs

up...sometimes I think life is worse... But ahh, those rare moments when the

sun is a golden disk in a sky so blue that it takes your breath away and your

child laughs above your head as you swing her round.... It's worth it...

stickyness and all.

Danelle,

With the symptoms Chas has now I think you should take him in. It sounds as

though he may be getting deydrated. Children that age who aren't drinking

and are acting lethargic can easily be dehydrated. I would get him checked

out. Is he making wet diapers? Dehydration can be very dangerous.

And don't ever feel you are bothering the doctor, its nothing, etc.ANY time

you are concerned should be reason enough for a phone call.

And about us, we are here for you to cry, whine, scream and vent on. that's

what we are here for. I think I speak for everyone when I say we ALL get

depressed, we are all scared. There is just so much going on. Don't be

afraid to ask for help. I've been on antideppressants for a few years and

some didn't help, some made it worse, but I finally seem to have found one

that is helping. I've also been in counseling, and I have been told I

handle things very well, which made me feel so much better. I hope this

helps. keep writing.

love,

M

It is great that you put your faith In God. I do too. But the point

you are missing is that you have to do your job as the mother. You can

not give up on your child just because they have a disease of such

nature or they will die. Love is the strongest medicine! Even if it

means never getting sleep, not being able to work, not being able to

do as much for the other members of the family, staying home instead

of taking a vacation, and the list goes on. I have given up alot for

my child, but it is not anything that I wouldn't do again. You forget

God doesn't give us more than we can handle! My daughter is 6 years

old and it has not been a fun road but she will always be my baby!

This is the best therapy there is!! I don't know what I would do if I didn't

have this group to go to and vent. Because know one knows what a person goes

thought that have kids with CF but us parents right here. We feel your pain

and it just makes you feel so much better to know that there are others out

there going through the same things you are. I have two kids with CF!! NOW DO

YOU FEEL BETTER!! Sometimes hearing someone that has more to deal with makes

you feel OK well if she can handle two kids one it's so bad. I know when I go

to the hospital and see kids in wheel chairs and ventilators I think OK we

don't have it so bad. There is always someone that has more to do with then

we do. So count your blessing!! I hope this helps you to feel better. Deb A

Many are saying that you are not allowed to have water the first day

after surgury. Will they allow you Ice Chips?

I know when your in the hospital buring pregnacy(i know totally diff)

your not allowed water but Ice chips.

I was just curious...I hate water but can eat Ice all day long...

Only if you spit it ALL out. It still will melt and go into the pouch. Part

of the reason for putting nothing in there is so that the pouch can begin a

good " Seal and Heal " so to speak.

You know Wolfie I tried to get them to let me do that at my hospital and

they said NO!! I wish I had your nurse. Sucking on that washcloth was not

exactly a thrill!!

i think its almost a " must " really - different dr's do it different ways -

my dr said he pours water in there to submerge the pouch and if no bubbles

he suctions the water out and closes -- he never does a barium swallow

unless after the pt starts having trouble.

hi, i don't think i could have anything the day of surgery - not even ice

chips but i'll tell you what was wonderful - they had these little sponges

on a stick with little tubes that looked like white hand lotion - i rubbed

the entire inside of my mouth with the lotion and it was great - my mouth

felt like your hands do and you rub lotion on them -- i even brought the

rest home in case i need them again. and remember - as long as you are

getting IV fluids you will not dehydrate.

Hey ,

I thought that was a cute idea too.

I have one of n when he was about 18 months sitting on a food

scale that I used to weigh him on, oh, and he's in a salad bowl!

I'll try to dig it up.
