Changes in Lip Size?

Hi there,

I'm on my 10th day post-op (upper jaw only) and noticed that since

the swelling has gone down, my upper lip looks thinner than before.

I'm kind of freaking out about this and don't remember reading any

posts about changes in lips after surgery. Is this normal? I am

really hoping that once the stitches fully dissolve, the lips will

go back to the way they were, but I'm not sure!

Has anyone noticed this too?

Thanks so much!

Meredith

meredith, I also had changes in my upper lip. I noticed it to be alot

thinner. My surgeon did lip augmentation about 1 year after my upper and lower

jaw

surgery.

HI there:

I had lower jaw surgery and my lower lip had the same effect. I

noticed the same thing and asked my surgeon. Here's what is happening.

You had an incision in your upper mouth (like I had on the lower) and

as you heal - the first stage is to form scar tissue. The scar tissue

tightens as it first heals and pulls your lip in.

As your body naturally processes the scar tissue - it will soften up

and your upper lip will naturally soften and fall back into its normal

position. I am 8 weeks post op and I am seeing the softening finally

happening with my lower lip - it is softening up and doesn't seem so

" sucked in " anymore.

I hope this helps. Best, Greta
