Guest guest
I wrote earlier in the week because I was having the surgery on the 3rd. Well, all went well and I've been home since Sunday. I'm trying to take it easy but actually felt so good Monday that I cleaned house....lightly of course....and went to my son's football practice. Well, dumb move cause it hit me hard today. I was having problems with getting dizzy. I realized that even with the surgery only eating two popcicles a day isn't enough so I have gone back to the basics and am forcing myself to eat. I started feeling better about noon. The problem I'm having now is I don't have any urge to eat. Not a low urge...NO urge. I have to constantly force it. Also, I have a little trouble with water. It makes me burp constantly, even taking tiny sips. But tea doesn't do that to me. What can I change to get the water down? Plus, when does the urge to eat come back so that you don't feel like you're forcing it down? I am only 4 days post op and still on a liquid diet. I think I'm most surprized at how little pain there is (gall bladder still intact). Thanks for the words of encouragment while I was in the hospital. Guest guest
Sounds like you are doing very well and all normal. It is very typical for a new post op to have no desire for food and also to have trouble getting liquids down. This went on for me about - oh, 5-6 weeks! (Late bloomer! ) Now at 2.5 monthes out, I do get hunger but fluids satisyfy me and I still dont really look forward to eating. I have to force myself. If water bothers you, can you tolerate diet drinks like Propel and non-soda other diet drinks? Or do all fluids make you burp? I remember doing a lot of that - it was usually because I was drinking too fast. Now I can drink fairly quickly. I use a straw - I know for some that i9ncreases the burps but not me. Guest guest
I'm glad to hear that you are home, and fine! I've heard from others that the temp. of the water might make a difference. Try it ice cold, room temp, etc to see if that helps M 10/13/03 > I wrote earlier in the week because I was having the surgery on the > 3rd. Well, all went well and I've been home since Sunday. Guest guest
I can't believe you are doing all of that after just having gotten home on Sunday!!!!! You are IMPRESSIVE!!!!!! I am just over 4 weeks post op and have only this week started going out on my own and doing a little here and there. However I did have a set back. I got an infection and ended up back in the hospital at the 10 day point. So I had to some what start my recovery over again. I do not get the burps from water but I cannot drink it unless it is very cold. What I started doing was taking a bottle of water and filing it about 3/4 of the way full and then putting it in the freezer. When I want water I pull it out and add a little to it and the water stays really cold no matter how long it takes me to drink it. Re: It's over, and I'm fine. Guest guest
Hi , and welcome home!!!!! Glad the surgery went wel for you!! I was on clears for 2 weeks!!!!!!!! By the end of the 2 wqeeks, I was READY for something more substancial. I have heard tht some people take longer to get their hunger sensation back. I, too, had to really work on getting the caloric liquids in. I am feeling better every day, and even went out and joined Curves yesterday.......Feel better soon, sherri Re: It's over, and I'm fine. welcome home susan! decaf tea was one of my salvations. & btw, it took 5 months for my hunger to return. lori h. -- In Gastric_Bypass_Family , " " wrote: > I wrote earlier in the week because I was having the surgery on the > 3rd.
