Just so you know that it is only when he takes the vitamin E. that he passes gas

a lot. If we miss a day, he doesn't gas.

The reason I think it is the side-effect of the vitamin not an on-going thing.

Are you saying that I should still take him for the test when I know that he

only does this only on vitamin E.

Please let me know what you advice.

If there is fat malabsorption. ..he may not be absorbing it properly.

Kids with malabsorption symptoms have terribe foul smelling gas,

stools that float and greasy stools. The gas gets worse with fatty

meals. Though I thought my boys bad gas was a family trait (from

dad's side of course)...now we know they have a malabsorption

syndrome..the sort of thing seen in conditions like celiac disease -

but there are others too that cause this problem. Malabsorption

needs to be worked up. But screening for it is easy...just a stool

sample. (for pH, reducing substances and quantitative fecal fat).

Whew! I'm beginning to feel a little overwhelmed by all the things that could

be going on with my little guy. Currently, we are on supplements and really not

doing much of anything else diet-wise. I don't really think there are any other

biological issues going on but then, I don't really know what to look for. We

are going to see a DAN dr soon. Will she know what all to screen/test him for?

Or do I need to be looking into all possibilities myself and have her test him

for those particulare things?

Can anyone give me a list of potential issues he could have and what I need to

do to find out if he has them? Thanks!!
