The only one who could comfort him as an infant was my dh (who is an aspie himself). He put him up under his chin near his voice box and walked ds around for hours (my dh is really tall as well). This tolerating touch was something we worked on at home without therapy for years and years (no one could tell us for many years in the rural area that we lived that our son had sensory issues). I just kept snuggling him and touching him with different objects and developed his tolerance for it. Didn't know I was actually doing therapy. ) Now my son loves to snuggle -- has to do it for at least 30 minutes every day. So enjoy it -- it only gets better. Guest guest
O!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on your success! Right now, my youngest will not hug his dad (but a few other people he will!) He just needs to see dad 'being calm' for a long time before he will feel comfortable with him again. Small steps:) *smiles* lisa b > > hugged his dad!!! > > only likes to be hugged by me since birth. He doesn't like to be > touched. He never would hug his dad. Not even play wrestle. Guest guest
Hello everyone: I have some great news that I wanted to share. Landon (3.6 yrs) was just evaluated for expressive language and he scored age appropriate!!! The normal range was 85-115 and he scored a 93!!! I was extremely excited to get this news because 6 months ago he had a delay in expressive language of 11 months. Our private therapist said we will focus on just articulation now that he has a vocabulary to work on. Tina

Guest guest
Yippeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From: Roxanna <madideas@zoomintern et.net>Subject: Re: ( ) Great News!! Date: Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 10:05 PM Congrats! I hope things work out for him with Nate! RoxannaAutism Happens ( ) Great News!! is going to a VBS at nights called "KidStuff". There are tracks you can select to sign up for. He signed up for "American Gladiator" they do "HE MAN" typs stuff. The first night the planned activites were rained out, so they did alternate ones (not as fun or exciting, of course). did not have a melt down while at church. But waited until I picked him up to use his words and tell me how sad he was. (Amazing self-control! )Then last night, he was glowing. He made a friend. He was so excited that he and his new friend, Nate, got to be partners and played and hung out. Nate even asked to come over to his house to play.I don't think my son has ever made a friend like this before, with no adult prompting. I'm excited for him. I'll be meeting Nate and his Mom tonight.Just thought I'd share the good news!DonnaNo virus found in this incoming message.
