Guest guest
Hi, I haven't taken the time to introduce myself since things are so crazy and I don't know what to do. I have a 7yo daughter, Hannah who has ADHD, apraxia of speech, Sensory integration dysfunction, hearing loss, severe speech/language issues. I will be seeing a Peds Neuro this Friday at UW-Madison to start more testing. She has been tested for AN, APD in addition to the list above. Because both ABRs were done non sedated the results are not reliable entirely to rule out the AN. We are also repeating the ABR but with sedation. Her meltdowns are so difficult. She is inconsolable, cries and screams, hits kicks, etc. She also lives in an imaginary world with her imaginary friends. Other kids laugh at her and are very mean to her. She's in 1st grade but will repeat it next year. She has very immature behaviors. She still writes on anything, cuts her own hair (SHE always manages to find where scissors have been hidden or one of the other kids leaaves them out). Our family life is centered around keeping the peace. She takes Adderal XR 10mg for the ADHD which has helped but.... I feel as if there is some form of autism or something. All of her benchmarks are below average or very low average. I see the pain in her eyes everyday because she knows she is different. She doesn't really have friends and is very agressive; she has 3 siblings. Bret, 16; Jake, 13; and Abby, 11. They are sometimes embarrassed by her behavior. I live in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Any suggesstions, empathy, anything would be helpful. It's been a long 7 years with little answers. Guest guest
Hi, There is a good book I am reading right now called " The Child with Special Needs " by Greenspan. It gives concrete examples of how you can engage your child, get into " their world " , and use play to bring them out. (Floortime therapy) You might want to check it out (I borrowed a copy from the library).
