It is late in the game for joint baths. As for parts curiousity, I think

they start being curious at 5 and if the parts are there she is going to

be curious. There are toms of books to help describe parts and processes

at an age-appropriate level. I think I even recall a list on Dr. Phil.com.

Im tired and want to go to bed early. Well tonight she wanted to

explore my " parts " of my body. Is this normal for this age? I was a

little concerned but thaught about it that she also explores her parts

occasionally (mostly in the bathroom on the potty) so is this

normal??? Not sure if I should be concerned or not.

Thanks

thank you and for your support/ Liz just wanted to

reitterate that I don't do this often but once in awhile I'll get in

the bath and she'll want to take one with me because we talk and tell

stories about her day. Nothing wierd going on, but like I said I feel

better knowing that other 5 and 6yo's do this, my dd just turned 7 so

she is not to far from a 6yo.

Thanks again,

I am sorry if I offended you. I am not sure what I wrote but if it was

offensive I apoligize as I never thought you were somehow kinky or

whatever. At worst I thought you may have been letting something go on

longer than I would have. Truly sorry.

-Hi Traci,

I just had to chime in on this one!!

If I didn't let my 7 year old into the shower with me I'd never be

clean! Husband travels ALOT. Besides, My husbands side is from

europe and I'm originally french canadian so we rarely show any

modesty:) We get so used to walking around au naturel that we don't

even notice anymore!

So, if you need to get clean en masse go for it

just my 2 cents:)

I feel that if it doesn't bother you, then don't worry about it... kids

are curious. If you act ashamed, or like you are hiding something,

maybe this can lead to a negative body image. There are lots of places

all over the world, where people are not ashamed of their bodies...

everyone has one... My kids rarely knock when I am in the shower, and

my 6 y.o. is still transitioning from jumping in with me, or asking to

be a big girl. I follow her cue... Both of my kids know about " private

parts " and not being allowed to touch... so, setting boundaries has not

been an issue for us since they were about 2-4 years old...

My 8 year old is going through this phase where she has been reading an

American Girls book called " Care and Keeping of You " . It explains

periods, body hair, and puberty in a way that is not frightening for

children. Mine has been reading it non-stop for months, and it helps

her ask questions that she might otherwise be embarrassed to ask. Maybe

that would help with yout daughter? I know a lot of other moms love

this book for their daughters.

Hope that helps.

Trixie,

I hope this helps, be yourself, I grew up in a home w/ 4 kids a mom & a dad and

never saw another naked person that I can recall, my mother sent my sister into

the restroom to teach me about my menstral cycle to say the least, thank the

lord for highschool sex ed or I might still be lost. It is a struggle for me to

be open w/my own 4 children because my parents were so " square " (my atempt to be

light on the subject).

I guess what I am saying is a child who is NOT apraxic or austic who has words

and can comunicate at age 5 or 6 or 7 for that matter can ask questions, can you

imagine a child who can't ask?

sounds like you a wonderful mom who is at ease with her ownself

to answer some very important questions. be thankful she is your daughter and

you can share this time. and you can teach her the correct words and what is

going on, instead of a 15 yr old teaching a 14 yr old about a period.

Heidi~
