Guest guest
(This is sent from Karyn through another computer) >>>...I came across book at & Noble called " The Patient's sourcebook on Pancreatitis " . ..... Kimber <<< Kimber, I purchased that book several months ago. It is available to purchase as text or as an e-book. There are strict copyright protection, and appropriately so. I am looking at how to best share some of the information and honor the copyright. The biggest kick of the whole book is........There is a section on Pancreatitis Organizations. You should have seen my face when I saw the Pancreatitis Association International listed as one of the top 3 providers of support and information. I should say I was smiling proud. Look at what can be done when you believe in something. The Regional Representatives and State Representatives are important and do make a difference. You have reached out your hand to scared, angry, confused new comers; you have shared from your own experiences and given them hope from your strength. Everyone, members, contacts, advocates, and adjunct volunteers, have played an important role in affecting change. It means so much to see your willingness to participate and give the group substance. I thank all of you with all my heart. Since its inception, August 4, 1999, the growth and development of the PAI has had growing pains, occasional gossip and smirk comments ; some have called the group pretentious, asking if we didn't realize we were just a handful of people with Pancreatitis posting on a message board. We never let our pain color our vision. And, that vision is as clear today as it was then. I see an Association whose mission is to provide information, support, and advocacy to anyone whose lives have been affected by Pancreatitis. The PAI offers numerous services. With the development of the Pancreatitis in the Schools Project, I realized just how Many People that entails. It isn't just the patient, their family, and their healthcare provider. The pain of this disease can be seen in Many Faces, our teachers, cross guards, bus drivers...the grocery clerk, postal worker, service men and woman, .....our neighbors. Every person who has shared and everyone who listened has given the PAI voice, One Voice. It was heard.........and published. Karyn , RN Founder / Exec. Guest guest
Karyn, Thanks for letting me know our group is even published. I look forward to getting the book. I ordered the printed version of the book as I didn't know it was available as an E-book. I periodically do search of books on pancreatitis and there is a new one at Amazon.com that is due to be published in Nov. 2003. It's horribly expensive though at $125.00 Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
