The absolute time is about 65 hours. That is all of the drug is out of your system, totally. So these side effects are probably coming from something else.

ps, at least we know that the side effects that were brothering you weren't from the ldn. So much for temporal relationships. Eh.

yes, one of the side effects of pentasa is cramping! but, compared to the severe pain i experienced without it, i'd rather take the pentasa - the cramping is not a constant thing! i do want to start on the ldn, to see if i can tolerate it, and if it can dissipate the symptoms, as i've read that it has with other users!! it is truly a blessing that some are completely symptom-free!!

i wish u blessings on ur quest for equilibrium!!

Skip,

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what to think at this point. I

do know that in the past certain medications have sent me into flares

for up to a couple of weeks. Pentasa did that, actually, even though

everyone was telling me how mild and well tolerated it is. It caused

horrible gut cramping (not a normal symptom of mine, necessarily)

from the 2nd dose onwards, but lasted for quite some time after I

stopped the drug. My system is so hypersensitive that often the

smallest thing can send it into a tailspin that takes a long time to

recover from.

The other thing that I wonder about is that my symptoms are quite

different from most other CD patients. Constipation is one of the

main issues for me, and I have seen others here on the board and

elsewhere report that LDN seemed to cause or worsen constipation for

them. Obviously, if someone has diarrhea like most CD patients. this

effect of slowing down motility (if that is indeed what is happening)

would be very welcome. Perhaps that's why constipation wasn't

reported as a side effect in the LDN/CD study... because everyone was

starting with severe diarrhea.

I think I'm going to give my system some time to get back to

equilibrium (well, equilibrium for me, at least) and perhaps try the

elemental diet again, which I've done in the past with some success.

After that, I'll try LDN again. Only this time, I'm going to build

up very slowly as you suggest... 1.5 for a month, then 3 for a month

(or longer, if necessary)... before going up to 4.5.

Thanks again,

Chris
