Dear Steph,

Thanks for the reply. This is so helpful! I do live in the US . . . Virginia,

actually. Can you just buy any prune juice? Does it need to be brand specific?

Do I need to pay attention to special ingredients? Do you know anything about

prune nectar (I got the feeling that Elaine preferred that over the juice)?

I have never heard of organic English breakfast tea. Can I find this in any

grocery store or is it a health food store item?

Concerning the zucchini . . . would a slow oven be the same as a crockpot,

regular oven, or oven roaster? Is ghee a cheese? We have to be casein free

because my guys make opiates from the casein. But we will be trying out

tomatoes shortly since we are almost ready for phase 2. I am anxious to try out

your zucchini idea.

And a not related question . . . what is Aspie?

Welch's makes a legal prune nectar and legal prune juice. I think

Sunsweet also makes legal prune juice (not sure if they have prune

nectar).

orange pekoe. You can also have peppermint tea.

Nope. They have to be ripe yellow with some brown spots -

freckles. I usually wait at least one day after the psots start to

appear to make sure it is ripe. If they overripen I peel and freeze

on a cookie sheet and then place in freezer bags them to be used

later in smoothies or baking.

The peel should be yellow (with spots) not brown - it sounds as if

your bananas had gone bad.

However,

Once they start to have the spots/freckles they are good to eat. If

there is still some green on the peel it doesn't matter - it is the

spots you are looking for.

Hi Sheila,

Your answers are very direct, specific, and helpful! Thank you! Today is my

fist day on SCD, and I am very excited about the prospect of healing.

I have already noticed (since my kids have been doing SCD for over 2 months)

that adhering to this diet causes a social stigma. Countless times I have been

questioned and confronted about putting my kids on this diet. Especially in the

area we live (where everyone is obese because they believe fried chicken, pork

-n- beans out of a can, and chocolate cake are staples in a healthy diet ),

people think we are harming our kids by putting them on a restricted diet. My

point is that I need a cheerleader about now because there aren't too many in my

physical surroundings. Thanks for volunteering!

I am sure that I will have many questions to ask as I go along. I am grateful

for individuals like you who are willing to take the time and answer. You guys

are the ones that make this a viable possibility for many of us. You are to be

commended.
