I love watching the kids play and run around with their friends. I had parent teacher conferences today for - who is 10 today WOW - all I heard was how bright both boys are and what witty, funny things they say. The teachers (two diff.) both said they show compassion for other students. Mark, I am glad had a great time - cherish the moment for tom. when they are cranky you will need to remember that look of fun and utter joy on her face! Rosemary in New York with 3 children with CF - they are 12, 9.11, 6...I coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT " ; and now we have a dog named - are you ready for this - TOBI after their medication! My daughter and her friends *always* had to play Chubby Bunny slumber parties! The kids sit in a circle and pass a bag of marshmallows -- the large ones, not the miniature marshmallows. The first girl takes a marshmallow and holds it her mouth without chewing and says, " Chubby Bunny " then she passes the bag to the next, who takes a marshmallow, puts in her mouth and says " Chubby Bunny. " They go very quickly all around the circle, each one taking a marshmallow and saying " Chubby Bunny " without chewing or swallowing the marshmallow. The bag keeps going around the circle as one by one the girls keep adding another marshmallow to their over-stuffed cheeks! Each time they put another marshmallow in their mouth they try to say " Chubby Bunny. " I can still see the girls rolling on the floor laughing, drooling marshmallow goo, crying tears of laughter because everyone has very fat cheeks stuffed with marshmallows. And when you try to say Chubby Bunny through a mouthful of marshmallows it comes out sounding like " hubbhe hahne " and all sorts of weird stuff! You definitely want to be sure an adult stays in the room while they play -- preferrably an adult who knows how to do the Heimlich manuever! I'm so happy Amber and are having a good night with friends; and I'm hoping there won't be any morning tummy aches! Apparently a number of children have died doing this because as the marshmellows melt they become a sticky goo that becomes stuck in the throat. Once someone chokes on it, it's impossible to get the stuff out and the heimlich manuever has no impact because there is no hard object to expell just a thick goo. Very Dangerous. After seeing this report, I would never let my kids do this (not that they are really old enough yet anyway). I really liked your vitamin C and Zinc advise. Sian had her ballet concert on Sunday afternoon, and it was one of those moments. About 10-12 six year olds with fairy wings, concentrating really hard on remembering their steps, doing verbal checks with their teacher who is over in the corner.... it was hilarious! And the great thing was, Sian was just one of many little girls in pink. There was nothing in the whole afternoon which made her " different " to any of the other children. (And guess what? That's the bit that made me cry!!) Love & Hugs, Mum to Cate 10yrs wocf and Sian 6yrs wcf, asthma, GERD and ADD? Canberra Australia - look out QLD, my mum in got another dust storm today......
