Guest guest
It is my understanding that Pseudomonas is everywhere (in drinking water, on your skin, etc.). However, as long as it is not gaining access to the lungs or sinus cavity, it does not begin building its fortress of doom in PWCF. My daughter's sinuses became infected with Pseudomonas when bath water entered her sinus cavity through her ear tubes. We were fortunately able to eradicate the Pseudomonas, and it apparently did not transfer to her lungs. We have been told to take special effort in sanitizing nebulizers, since this is the device that atomizes stuff for delivery into the lungs. A dishwasher with amply hot water is helpful for the plastic cups, as is cooking them in the microwave for 5 minutes (Pari's can withstand this process, I'm not sure about other products). I hope this interjection serves to help you concentrate your cleaning efforts rather than add additional fear to your lives. Everyone should take precautions about infections, but please don't let these bugs take you away from enjoying life. There is Joy in life, even when you or your loved one(s) has CF. Let's spend more time on increasing our Joy. Humbly, Ann (Mommy of Joy Katelyn, 3 years old with CF) " Seeing Joy through CF "
