Do you think there is a connection > between MS and candida? Any diet can help you feel better, but can a > diet directly alter your MS? ===== I actually have had diet alter some of my MS symptoms since starting LDN. Not everyone will, sort of like LDN, trial and error. I do think keeping candida at a low level is uite beneficial because high candida destroys the immune system and causes most of the same symptoms as MS does. I think candida eating away at the immune system can lower one's immune system to such a state that all types of diseases are possible to develop. I first did the strict low carb diet for a year, no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no soy, no gluten. After about 6 months into the diet I did allow for organic butter and occasionally allowing myself organic cottage cheese. For a couple of weeks I had hives and acne that made me look like I had chicken pox. That finally got better. I made sure my meats and eggs were all steroid and antibiotic free as these fuel candida. My candida lowed considerably and I was not as sluggish. I later switched to Professor Celene Bernstein's diet from her book Health Seekers(do a google search on Celene if you want to know about her philosophy of eating)...she has a daughter with MS who also takes LDN. Celene's diet program is the extreme opposite of the low carb candida diet allowing much fresh fruit, raw and steamed veggies and occasional meat. On Celene's detox program I noticed my knotted muscles in my torso lessening an so did my massage therapist. I still have a great deal of knotted muscles there but it's not as bad...I was paralyzed from my neck to my hips from the MS and took 3 years of IV steroids for me to get back to where I could function(not 100% of course, I was left with much damage) I think my having 3 bananas per day on Celene's diet and her way of food combining has helped my body be able to absorb my nutrients much better(all foods organic). When I started her maintenance program I was having to take 6 Prescription time-released potassium capsules daily because my potassium would hit rock bottom and my blood pressure would drop into the danger zone and I would be on the verge of a stroke. Now I take absolutely no potassium and my blood pressure is staying up to around 107/73 instead of 90/49. My torso muscles that loosened are still loosened, my libido has improved considerably and that may be a combo of diet and LDN and supplements Celene started me on, not sure. I've seen other subtle improvements on her diet and I started her diet mid April of this year(2006) Celene also has me take Adrenucleo and Enzimmune both by Enzyme Process(do google search)...there's one for the and USA and I think South Africa. Celene's book has gone up in price. Was South Africa Rand95.00 and is now R129.95 and I think that comes to $18 or $19 USA dollars and with shipping and handling, registered mail(Book only, no cassette tape) comes to no more than $36.00 USA dollars. Takes 10 to 12 business days to get from South Africa to your home. Not trying to push Celene's book on anyone, just telling my story and giving the info on Celene and her book if anyone is interested. If you do contact her, mentioning my name Bren/Arkansas sent me in the subject line to her will get your email noticed more quickly. Remember, Celene is a very busy nutritional consultant and her time is limited so only serious inquiries please. She has a heart of gold so be nice to her. I have not checked for typos in this reply this time so if there are any, excuse me.
