Guest guest
Hi - I am kind of "flying blind" because my doc prescribed due to my "begging" but he's not familiar with LDN. I have been waking up about 2-3 a.m. almost every night - and I do have allergies... does anyone know if you can take Benedryl at night also and not have problems? Thanks! Guest guest
Very strange Carol...I also wake up every night around 2-3 am...what dosage are you on and for how long? I am on 4.5 for about a year now and am wondering if I should go down to 3.0 as when I was on that I slept like a log all night? Maybe Cyndi can ask Skip about this??? > > > > Hi - I am kind of " flying blind " because my doc prescribed due to my > begging " but he's not familiar with LDN. > I have been waking up about 2-3 a.m. almost every night - and I do have > allergies... does anyone know if you can take Benedryl at night also and not > have problems? > Thanks! > Carol >

Guest guest
OK, I had to join in. I wake up 2-3am every morning too. I started LDN in February of 2006. No, I don't have to go to the bathroom. I take LDN around 9-11 PM every night. Never fails I'm up. -- Re: [low dose naltrexone] Re: Take with other meds? It gets even stranger. Guest guest
I hate to sound like I'm jumping on the bandwagon, but the same thing is happening to me as well! I only just started taking LDN on July 21st and am now taking 3mg. Sometimes if I try really hard I can fall back asleep, but not all the time. If I'm correct I believe you can email Dr. Bihari's office or someone from the low dose naltrexone website and maybe they can help you figure it out? Good luck either way! Guest guest
Dear et al, I started my LDN April 2005. I also started with a worsening of symtoms, vivid dreams, and stiffness walking. The issue of insomnia only existed when I took my LDN more than an hour before sleeo. Dr. Bihari told me that I could take it not more than 1 hour before sleep. I do wake up around 3:00 am nearly every night with an urgent need to urine all those dead endorphins, but I go back to sleep quite soundly. I attribute this to 53 and menopausal. Guest guest
your very lucky you sleep that much. waking up once in the middle of the night togo to the bathroom is really a good nights sleep. with really bad menopausal symptoms you can wake up every hour . cyndi On Aug 1, 2006, at 7:37 PM, Pam wrote: > Dear et al, > I started my LDN April 2005. Guest guest
I had noticed this myself. If there is too much time between taking my LDN and going to bed, I get a burst of energy and it is harder to settle down and go to sleep. Since LDN, once I am asleep, I sleep HARD. So hard, in fact, that sometimes I don't feel rested when I wake up. However, I still have increased energy during the day. All of this, plus a poster who's doctor prescibed her LDN in multiple doses, makes me wonder about a small dose in the morning IN ADDITION TO the nightly dose. I wonder if a BOOSTER in the morning could increase energy even further throughout the day, or what negative effect it might have on endorphins. I have also read on the board that one of the LDN doctors recommends suppliments to keep endorphines UP during the day. Any thoughts? > The issue of insomnia only existed when I took my LDN more than an hour before sleeo. Dr. Bihari told me that I could take it not more than 1 hour before sleep. Guest guest
Hi -- I've been reading here for a week or so, and want to try the ldn. I was told I had fibromyalgia, for which I've sleep-medicated with 25 benadryl and 1/2 tab lorazepam for years. Now I've just found out recently I actually have Lyme disease! From a tick bite 25 years ago that no one ever figured out with me till recently, and then I tested positive for it. So I've been treating the effects of Lyme disease withy the benadryl and lorazepam. It's something else to mentally rename what I've been actually treating! And yes, Dr. Bihari's office is treating patients with Lyme with the ldn. -- Robin
Guest guest
it just doesn't work that way. there was a doctor in germany who studied it gave it during the day and the whole study failed. it has to do with what goes on with your body at night time. as far as supplements go I have been looking at what is recommended and it just seems to me you guy can go broke buying all this stuff. so I'm wondering what is really important to take as opposed to it would be nice but i need to take that other stuff first. cyndi On Aug 1, 2006, at 9:01 PM, perfectlysunnyday wrote: > I had noticed this myself. Guest guest
That's funny. I'm including this entire thread to respond to both issues. My work schedule varies much, but I frequently work until 12-1 am, sometimes until 3. In any case, me being awake at 3 isn't uncommon. At 3, almost on the dot, if I'm still awake, I get *very* wired (endorphins?) and usually can't sleep then until 4 or after. My wife has problems getting to sleep somewhat often. She takes either melatonin or benadryl to help. Neither of us has noticed a problem with her taking benadryl with LDN. Not advice, just her experience. Eve wrote: > It gets even stranger. Guest guest
I second this. A natural aid is better than drugs, of course. I live with an on and off hard core insomniac, though. has tried about everything from very mild to harsh. If it's a choice between her ingesting benadryl and not sleeping all night then doing the same the next night and the next..., I vote for benadryl. Again, this isn't intended as advice of any kind. It's just our anecdotal evidence.
