Guest guest
BCY LifeSciences reports patient enrollment and treatment has started for the Phase II clinical trial in cystic fibrosis; BCY LIFESCIENCES INC. (TSXV: BCY) DATELINE: TORONTO, Jan. 7 BCY LifeSciences Inc. (TSXV: BCY) today reported the first patients for the Phase II clinical trial of DCF 987 have been enrolled and administration of the treatment has started. The Phase II trial is designed to study the utility of the Company's lead compound when treating cystic fibrosis (CF). DCF 987, a low molecular weight dextran, is delivered by inhalation to the lungs of CF patients. The compound appears to have utility in thinning the thick mucus associated with CF, while also preventing the adhesion of bacteria to lung epithelial cells. It is believed that these two actions can be of significant importance to the CF sufferer. If DCF 987 is able to help in the thinning of mucus, it should enable CF patients to more readily expel the mucus from the respiratory tract, while the preventing or reducing the adhesion of bacteria may help keep infection in control. The trial is being conducted at six centres in Canada and involves some of Canada's leading CF physicians. Patients included in the double blind trial will receive DCF 987 twice daily over a 28 day period. The first initiation of the therapy will take place in the hospital centres. For the most part however, the patient will self administer at home. " Today marks a very important milestone for the CF patient as BCY LifeSciences initiates trials on a new therapy that could bring significant benefits and improved well being in the longer term " , stated Lorne Meikle, President & CEO of the company. Meikle further added, " this milestone is also important to many of our investors, as they have remained supportive of our efforts since we started the development program for DCF 987 " . About BCY LifeSciences BCY LifeSciences is a pharmaceutical development company dedicated to acquiring and developing innovative pharmaceutical products or technologies that serve unmet medical needs with an initial focus on technologies targeting cystic fibrosis (CF). This press release, as well as other press releases and corporate information, can be found on the Company web site: www.BCYLifesciences.com. Guest guest
what is the english for tobi! if anybody knows please tell me I've finally got the internet at home so i will make time to read all messages. I sometimes think - thank god (or who ever) that matthew wasn't diagnosed till the age of nine - if i had his diagnosis earlier I would of struggled more than i am struggling now I have had 9 years of worry with him - but people " both perfessional and others " kept telling me he was fine so i went along with that and treated him like any other kid. I am still trying to do that - but i find it a lot more difficult. I know that if they had diagnosed him earlier he would of been wrapped in cotten wool (and so he should of been) but he would not be the vivacious, outgoing ,confindent child - he is (even though he's nearly a foot shorter than his peers). I admire you all so much - especially Torsten and Rosemary - I feel you both need lots of love and admiration - nobody likes changes - but changes happen. Torsten - I may be wrong but most men completley shut things out - all ( My husband) heard was children born in 2000 should at least expect to see 40. was born in 1993 and was undiagnosed till 2002 (i'm even afraid to ask for his expeced life span). It may seem a strong word to use but I really love you all, I really respect you all and if I can be half the parent you guys seem to be then I will be happy - all I can do is my best.
