Guest guest
Hi--I am new (soon to begin scd) and am wondering if pear juice is scd legal. We switched to pear juice a while back because I read it had very low sugar. I saw pears are okay--but didn't see pear juice as one of the legal juices. Right now we use Gerber brand pear juice (pear juice from concentrate, ascorbic acid) and R.W.Nudsen Family Organic Pear juice from concentrate--100% juice (ingedients:filtered water, organic pear juice concentrate, calcium lactate, natural flavor, ascorbic acid). If these are not legal, it should be okay to make my own, right?? Thanks for any info! Maureen

It is 100% pear juice, no concentrate. > I got a letter in the mail from Knudsen's stating that they use absolutely > no sugar or additives. I am confused. Please tell me why you think it's > illegal. Thanks > Dina > Please read the link on Homemade versus Storebought on the www.pecanbread site. One hopes people have studied BTVC and the web site which answers these most frequently asked questions. Juice is an ongoing recurring issue and it is important to understand the reasons we are so cirmumspect are for your protection. Carol F. Guest guest
I should stop drinking the Welches grape juice too darn!. It seems like that has to have some sugar added too, now that I think of it. The 100% Welches says made from concentrate, so we definitely shouldn't use it. Has anyone made their own grape juice? Thanks Dina > > > > > > Why is Knudsen's pear juice illegal? Guest guest
Dina, If you have a written letter from them, would you be willing to scan it and send it as an attachment to my private e-mail or fax it to me? (I'm not at home right now. I can send you my phone number in private correspondence.) When Knudsen had been contacted previously, the only juices that they were willing to say had nothing else in them, but what was listed on the label was the JUST ... line of products. Those are the only ones that we have been saying are okay. If you have information from them saying that there are other products that might be okay for SCD, then I'd like to get the information from you. And Welch's is fine. Elaine checked it out herself. Please tell me why you think it's > illegal. Thanks > Dina Elaine spoke with Knudsen when investigating their Just Juice line. She told them of the parameters that would make juice legal for SCD and they confirmed that the Just Juice line was okay. When asked about their other products they suggested that they weren't SCD legal according to the parameters set out. So, the Knudsen Just Juice line is okay but the rest of their products are not - as confirmed by both Eline and the company itself. A sausage maker who read about our cooking classes called to ask if I would promote his " gluten free sausage. " When I asked for the ingredients, #1 was soy protein. It's sometimes difficult to explain that we are beyond just banning gluten from SCD food. It's starch and sugar that are also culprits. Carol F.
