Guest guest
Thanks for this info. I need the details. My son sounds a little like your Kiki except that my son, after treatment for anemia, does quite well. He gains steadily but hasn't jumped back up on the growth chart. Some of this is what is considered normal and no doc has ever told me that he looks off. He has had lots of energy since anemia days and poops are just either big and dry or soft and mushy. He sometimes has undigested foods but not as often as when he was little and not chewing things well. He never has really had undigested fats in his bms. He looks thin but super healthy. This is where I get lost between the cracks because he just seems healthy though I think no pooping is bad for a person and because the last time we went on the diet he gained a pound in less than a month! gwen Bunce ajbunce@...> wrote: Thought I would share again.......after spending hundreds of dollar for the DNA test...KiKi came back negative! At this time she was only gaining 3 ounces a month (breast feeding 14 time a day and eating non stop!) yet not gaining weight, had steatorrhea (undigested fat and food in her stools), low albumin (low protein) and was border line diabetic!.....the pediatrician said that this was Celiac Disease...that she didn't care what these DNA tests or Celiac Panel said! That she was to weak/thin/sick to be put through a biopsy and EGD testing (gold standard) that she was " CONFIRMED " ! That to put her through any more tests would be " child abuse! " ...her doctor truly said this! Yet again I tell you guys...the gluten free diet did not work, nor did GF/CF!!!! This is the only thing that has worked the best...experimented with many ways of eating.....SCDIET is the only thing that is working the miracle we wanted! For some of us the confirmation comes when you see the changes to the better! My husband and I are the only ones that where confirmed with " gold standard " of testing....and again our celiac panel was negative...and again the GF die did not work! Elaine explains everything......in the " Celiac Story " in her BTVC book...I urge us all to review! Antoinette (day 28 entire family SCD/Celiac disease/malabsorption/leaky gut....neurological problems because of it....and healing) Re: recommended tests Gwen, There is a genetic screening for Celiac, but it is not 100% reliable. Even if it is positive, it doesn't " prove " that someone has Celaic disease. If it is negative, it doesn't completely rule out the possibility. I don't think that a doctor will give a definitive Celiac diagnosis without the biopsy. And to do that, I am pretty certain that the person will have to go back to eating a regular diet for an extended period of time (6 weeks I think).
