For the last 2 years we had been ordering starter culture from Custom

Probiotics in California . I really liked the yogourt it made but I

decided I would to try out Progurt as we can get it here in Toronto,

Canada. I made the first batches the other day and it tastes completely

different, not nearly as tart, almost not yogourty at all. I found this

to be the case with both cow and goat's milk.

Has anyone else noticed a marked difference in taste when using

different starter cultures for yoghurt?

,

It will taste different because the two starters have different cultures in

them.

The CP starter has L. Acidophilus and the GI ProHealth starter has L. Casei.

Both are fine for SCD.

Hi ,

Both are good.

I wouldn't use them together in the same btach. They may throw off

the balance of microorganisms. What you could do is alternate

starters with each batch. Another way to get more probiotics is by

making other fermented foods. You can use some starter to make

fermented foods (fermented veggies , kimchi) or use the natural

bacteria in cabbage to make sauerkraut (L. plantarum).

Either is great. There are legal starters at
