Hi,

My son, Doug , age now is 21 has had Chrons since 2001, had surgery, ileum

and bottom of bowel removed in March of 2002. We began SCD as soon as

surgery was over but I was lost often cried after I emptied out the cupbards

and fridge of all illegal foods. I did educate myself and my son has never

had a flare since the surgery. He went on to culinary school with a degree

in that and an associatyes also. He " got smart " about this SCD diet and

learning the trade he understands the chmistry of foods and why he has to

stick with it. He has been doing excellently on SCD.

We do all the substitutes, spag squash instead of real pasta but I am

always looking for almost the real thing! In a local health foos store,

Bonterra's in Northfield, NJ, they stock three items I was wondering about.

I question if the beans used in the following products are legal and/ or

have been soaked for the mandatory 24 hours beforing making product. Anyone

know? I called company ut no response. also, anyone ever make their own

pasta from almond flour or beans?

* Eden Selected Mung Bean Pasta , wheat free bean starch

* Papadini Hi Protein Lentil Bean Pasta

* Food for Life Sprouted Grain Pasta Ezekial ( I was told by a friend

that the sprouts aren't sproured enough. True?

Not almond flour or beans but some use zucchini noodles.

Mung Beans aren't legal

I don't know of the ingredients or if they are soaked before

cooking. If ready for lentils maybe your son could attempt to make

the pasta himself? :)

Ezekiel Bread is not SCD legal.

Elaine explained that the stems and tops of alfalfa sprouts are legal but not

the end that

looks like a tiny ball as that is where the starch is stored that the plant uses

as food. There

is not much flavor in those tops. As far as illegal mung bean sprouts not only

are they

illegal but one brand recently been recalled here in Canada twice because it

was toxic

(mold or something)
