do any better when we were gfcf, so we went off the diet and were

enzymes. Josh is doing better, it's a gradual thing, and I'm

That is soooo good to hear Josh is doing much better...especially at

age 16. My own pet theory of why older kids (meaning over age 6) do

better on enzymes as a group than on the GFCF diet is that when the

kids are younger their guts are not as injured and maybe you can get

away with just eliminating gluten and casein. As they get older, the

gut continues to stay injured and so you would need to eliminate a

bunch more foods besides just gluten and casein - as parents often

report after they stay on the diet longer and begin to remove more

and more foods. So if you start the diet when they are older, just

removing gluten and casein isn't enough and after several months of

this, you say, " Oh the diet isn't helping my child. " But since

enzymes pro-actively start gut healing as well as tackling ALL foods

at the same time, you see improvement a LOT faster. Anyway, this may

be one reason.

Another reason is that older kids have more access to diet

infringements and parents do not have an much absolute control over

their kids. I was lurking on a Feingold kids chat (helping my sons,

of course) and the kids all admitted that they snuck stuff and

cheated on their 100% diet, and their parents didn't know " why they

were acting that way. " They were all in the 7-12 year age range, and

this was usually at school, a friend's house, or sneaking into the

kitchen.
