Guest guest
Hello all: I went to see my primary (gp) yesterday to talk to him about the surgery, symptoms etc. He gave me more information: I have a 9mm herniation with bulging of the spinal canal at C5 and C6, consistent with the beginning of Syringomyelia. I'm assuming that if I had gone longer without detection, the condition would have worsened. Was anyone else diagnosed with the beginning of a Syrinx? And were you told you should have surgery before it formed? Does anyone know how long it takes to form? So I was convinced before seeing my gp that I wasn't going to have surgery, now I'm convinced I should. He said he has known my surgeon over 20 years and he is very conservative. If he recommended surgery, you need it. I told him I had alot of concerns about recovery...I wanted another opinion, could I please have a referral to a neuro. He gave me a referral and even called the guy's office to schedule me in before next year lol... So I'll see what he has to say, and get more info on the Syrinx, and maybe more tests. I was just wondering if any of you have the beginnings of a Syrinx and if surgery was recommended. I'm surprised I can even remember my name because the short term memory loss has gotten bad the last couple of days. I told my gp about it and he didn't know why that would happen. I told him it definitely was and that I have read that many people have this. Does anyone know why it happens?
