Guest guest
Hi all, As if you didn't have enough t think about and balance, here is a new one for all of you who are not Casein free... cow's milk has varying levels of lead in it, the source of which is the water the cows drink. I didn't even think about this until I called the manufacturer of OSCAL this morning to find out about the lead content of that product (1.23 ppm, if you're interested). During the conversation I had with the service rep, she mentioned that people get all freaky about lead in their calcium supplements and don't think about the lead in their milk...her claim is that the lead in milk is at a much higher concentration than in the oyster shell supplements. So, I started trying to do some research and I'm kind of getting the runaround. However, my husband (you remember, the attorney?) has a a couple of clients who are big dairies and suppliers to such organizations as the LA Unified School District. So, I put in a call to him to put me in touch with someone in the know, whose brain I can pick about this stuff. The Sherlock Holmes in me wonders if the large quantities of milk that pregant women typically drink might be a factor in this autism puzzle. Obviously, there are many factors, but if a vulnerable, developing fetus is consistently exposed to lead, is it possible that some neuro damage might occur, thus starting the weakened triangle of gut/brain/immune system, and then the obvious assault of the mercury during the immunization regimen just puts the kids over the top? Just a thought and I will let you all know what I find out on this. I will be look into the organic milk dairies as well to find out if this issue is at all addresed in how the cows are treated. I know Chembalance is a big proponent of drinking milk, but this might be one more reason to really scrutinize its value. A little more fuel to this fire is, I wonder about the metals content of the flesh of animals...just like humans. Doesn't it stand to reason that cows and chickens and turkeys and pigs also have a toxic load and are we increasing the load in our bodies the higher on the food chain we eat? Stay tuned.
