--- Bev...yes I get the cramps in my calves...they are really painful

at times..so I have been doing deep tissue massage to my calves every

nite before going to sleep....and sometimes, my calves hurt so...it

brings me to tears....this seems to be helping...most of mine are at

nite in bed...it does seem though that since I have done my last

increase (up to 4 grains) it is not as often or as long in

duration...so could be a combination of massage and the

increase...jeanne

Bev,

If you are assimilating your calcium & mag supplements then no it probably

isn't minerals that you need. But I would guess a lack of minerals is the

problem. You may not be taking enough. How much are you taking and what

kind are you taking?

How is your digestion?

Also again at the risk of being pushy . . . lol, I can't stress enough that

it is a good idea to take a broad spectrum multi-vitamin and mineral and

then to add extra of any ingredients to achieve the health that you desire.

I have several personal testimonies about CMK (calcium, magnesium,

potassium, 200 mgs each) taking care of pain. LOL not only them but about

two ounces of cheese. When you are on the Atkins diet you are supposed to

eat two ounces of cheese a day minimum to get calcium. Well I had been on

the diet for awhile and this one night I couldn't get to sleep because my

hip was bothering me. It was very painful. I realized I hadn't eaten the

cheese that day so got up and ate the cheese. (LOL I keep thinking cut the

cheese.) To keep from bothering my husband I laid down on the couch, and

within minutes after eating the cheese I was sound asleep. No more pain . .

.. No kidding.

There have been many times when I forget to take supplements for awhile and

my feet or joints will start causing me problems and finally the pain will

get through to my brain. So I will muscle test for how many CMK, take them,

and have relief in a short time. If you do not know how to use muscle

testing for dosages, don't be afraid to take a few tablets. Of course,

check and make sure that the minerals will not interact improperly with any

of your meds.

Hi EveryOne,

Does anyone here get leg cramps, specifically in the calves and feet? They

only last a short while, but they seem to be happening more frequently,

almost always in the evening while sitting watching TV, after dinner. It

may

be a reaction to certain food

Yes, yes, yes. It's been a continuing problem for me for at least 4

1/2 years, even before I switched to Armour. Mine are mostly in the

calves and usually always occur at night when in bed. It's very

frustrating. I get fantastic and near immediate relief from using

homeopathy for leg cramps--two pills are placed under my tongue.

But........I am still wondering why this has started. The only clue

is peri-meno......what else could it be?

And, I have been wondering if something nutritionally is going on,

but what? I, too, take magnesium, and have recently switched to

Magnesium Citrate, which I understand is superior.

I used to get them at night after I'd been in bed a while. Low potassium

levels will cause leg cramping. In hair analysis, the Calcium/Potassium

ratio in hair analysis is an important indicator of thyroid health, so leg

cramping can be related to hypothyroidism.

In the body, potassium has cell membrane effects such as muscle contraction.

Among other functions, potassium helps raise aldosterone and other hormones.

Synergistic nutrients are magnesium and zinc, antagonistic neutrients are

calcium and processed food diets low in potassium. Low hair potassium

indicates adrenal gland exhaustion. Very low potassium is associated with

allergies, fatigue, low blood sugar, sweet cravings, and low blood pressure.

valerie,

this is still a really sensitve area for me...under my breasts/rib cage. it

will hurt if i sit at the computer too long sorta hunched over. i have

thought it was an area that was just quite damaged from lack of thyroid hormone.

have you identified anything that starts yours cramping?

I also have leg cramps when I am low in Potassium. I take a diretic

and have to take Potassium pills at the same time because that takes

the Potassium out of your body when you urinate a lot. Bananas are

also a good source of potassium. I know those cramps are really

painful and I've had them in my sides near my rib cage too.

Peggy what they DON'T tell you is those pills also deplete your sodium levels

too. I know because the worst of my cramping came when I was on diuretics for

blood pressure too. They kept doing blood tests and more blood tests to see what

was causing the cramps and though my potassium was fine my sodium was just a

tiny bit low, BUT I stopped most those cramps by eating salt.
