Welcome to the group . I had the most horrible experience the other

day. About a month and a half ago I went to be weighed. I had to be weighed

at the Laundry center at the local hospital. I weighed in at 417 pounds. I

was determined to lose the weight so I could have surgery so I went on a

diet. I knew my progress was going to be worth being hungry and cranky. I

decided to go back and weigh to check my progress. You can imagine my

surprise and udder anguish I was feeling when the scale said 440 pounds.

Apparently the first time I weighed, the technician did not reset the scale.

So now I have 40 + pounds to lose before surgery. So I am in your corner I

know what it feels like to be the heaviest you have ever been. I cried all

that day and have been the wicked witch of the West today. I am so

discouraged. Well, I just wanted you to know that you were not alone. If

you want to talk please e-mail me privately.

Hi Debbie,

I just finished typing a modified copy of the letter you sent me... I

think I may have to add carpal tunnel syndrome to my list of co-morbidities.

LOL I can't thank you enough, it was beautifully worded, I could never have

written such a through letter without you help!

Hello ,

My name is Dena Lawton. I am 52 5'8 " and weigh 350+ pounds. My surgery date

is July 19th. I am very excited. Did you have any specific questions? If so,

just spit em out! Nothing is sacred here. (Except our unified desire fo this

surgery!)

Gloria,

I tried the generic TUMS and they were more chalky, I actually found them

more disgusting than the Carafate. TUMS berry flavored are much better.

Gatorade seems to be on sale everywhere since it is summertime so I just

stock up, I prefer the lemon ice it is like lemonade. I only felt like I

needed someone with me for 1 day after surgery. I slept alot that day. The

next 2 days I took an hour nap in the afternoon and then none after that.

Sorry I could not offer more help but those were the only questions that I

had experience with. Good Luck.

Hello everyone hope every one has a pain free day.

My name is Carolyn and I am fairly new to the group.

I have Chiari1 & also have an Arachnoid Cyst. I had first decompression in

1995

started having symptoms again in 99 after car accident but did not get to

severe till recently. I am still waiting for my appointment to be set up with

neurosurgeon.

I was told that my brain is crammed in my skull really good.

My questions are:

Does any one keep running a low grade temp. ? If so do you also get moody &

uncontrollable crying jags? I have medication for depression, etc., and Dr.'s

I go to and myself had mess with my meds to see if they are causing my

problem and they are not. The temp has been going on/off for about 3 years now.

Another question does any know where I can find a good definition, or maybe

someone could tell me, for Arachnoid Cyst?

Does any one have the shakes & could they be from Chiari?

I know I have to have another surgery and am terrified this time around.

Well, now that babbles has wrote a book,LOL, I will sign off now.

Thanks to every one for your previous imputes they have been so helpful.

I will keep you all in my prayers, God Bless Carolyn

PS Does any one have family and friends who think they are crazy when they

bring up all the related symptoms they have and try to explain there Chiari?

Also has anyone used the Wishes and Rainbows help sight? I have some questions

but would like to talk private on this subject. Thanks
