Not raised B-12, from what I understand it's pretty common for it to

be low. I know I am now on B-12 injections because of how low mine

got.

High B 12 can be related to severe liver dysfunction according to

Mosby's Diagnositc and Laboratory Test Reference. It is also high in

people with leukemia, polycythemi vera, myeloproliferation disease.

Some medications can cause an increase in B 12 also.

Is your son taking vitamins with B 12 in them?

Usually when they run a B12 blood test they also check the Folic acid

level was this done?

I too googled high Vit B12 levels and read about liver dysfunction and

cirrhosis. does not take B12 supplements - only a multivitamin.

May be I have just missed something and VitB12 elevation is normal for

people with chronic liver disease/dysfuntion?? Does anyone else have

this test done and is it common for it to be high?

Thanks

It is more common for B-12 to be low when related to liver dysfunction

until it becomes severe liver dysfunction. If it was way above normal

I would ask to have it run again. What has the doctor said about this?
