Guest guest
My son started the enzymes a week ago and is acting strange. Not hyper but distant, spaced out and a little anxious. I'm wondering what causes such behavior. Is it similar to the yeast therapy where there is a die off reaction ? Of course everyone at school and his dad are saying " I don't know about that stuff you're giving him " . I'm hoping he will adjust to this and will get that Happy Child effect everyone is talking about. Any thoughts? Nina
Guest guest
Nina, Yes! That could be a die-off reaction! If your son is not gluten- free/casein-free/soy-free before the enzymes, you may see behaviors like you describe as well as irritability. Your son is suddenly having to adjust to no more opioid effect from unbroken down peptides. The enzymes now break down those peptides and your son is probably experiencing a withdrawal effect, much like a drug addict would go through when going off drugs, to make a comparison. Some report hyperactivity, some do not, each child is different. If you find this period of adjustment is too difficult, you can cut back on the dose a little, then increase it slowly. Most of the problems from adjusting go away after three weeks. I printed off Dr. Houston's entire website for teachers and doctors to help them understand what we were doing. Our Files section at this site (look in the yellow box) has some good info. for school issues, too. Please post again if you have more questions and keep us updated. > My son started the enzymes a week ago and is acting strange. Not > hyper but distant, spaced out and a little anxious.
