Guest guest
I seem to have a problem with the simple things. I constantly recheck and recheck everything because I can't remember if I did something. I mix up words lately. The funny thing is that those who know me well know what I meant to say. I was trying to exchange money with my daughter this morning (exchange two tens for a twenty) and I had such a hard time figuring out what we were doing. When the kids leave for school I check their folders and bookbags over and over to make sure I put everything in there. If I have a form to fill out...I stare at it... " Do I put my first name first or my last name? " It's very silly.

Guest guest
I have been having major memory problems since my decompression surgery. I will ask my daughters over and over what time I need to pick them up from sports practices. They get so irrated and I have to write everything down now. One suggestion: post-it notes!!!! I use them alot. I also play a lot of memory games and the concentration game helps me alot. In Oregon 1.5 cm. decompression, C1 and C2 on Nov. 1, 2002

Guest guest
Hi to all, i am so glad to have found this group, because as much as we talk with others who have not experienced what we have or still are having and as hard as they try to understand, they really cant fully. Well here is one of my problems i feel is worsening, my memory! Does anyone else have this problem and is this normal? I've been told to try and work crossword puzzles etc.. to exercise the brain, which i do, but my memory is going. When i try to figure out directions all-so i cant. Projects that would of only taken a few minutes now take much longer. I am very scared about this, i worry more as i have a 11 year old daughter who i want to see grow up. Why is it we can remember somethings, and then other things we cannot? I am so confused. I have Chiari/SM, my decompression was 11-01,and many problems old and new are coming quickly. It seemed i had evened out for sometime but am now on the down side and moving quickly, tomorrow i will call my neoro as i am waiting on a MRI, but in the mean time i don't feel safe, as i feel as if i am failing mentally and body wise. Thanks sheila
Guest guest
My memory is getting so bad that when I looked at our wedding pictures I did not recognize the people standing. Both long term and short term are affected. Dr. B does not know if fusion will help my memory or just chocking, swallowing, breathing, and heart. /steve - tennessee Decomp 11-01, Cervical Laminectomy C1-C7, POTS, NCS, Fusion T3 to Skull in March

Guest guest
I read somewhere (think wacma site) that memory can be affected. I read that you should play card games and do crossword puzzles. They help with maintaining memory. Something like that - sorry I can't be more helpful.
