Hi!

Thanks to , , and Dana, for responding to my last post.

In answer to 's question: Dr. Buie is a wonderful committed Doctor

and I see great things in the future from his research. However, he is very

cautious, and for him to take this leap has been a long time coming. He scoped

my son two years ago. At the time we were hoping the secretin challenge would

help him. We had been tried every laxative known to man to get his motility

going. The endoscopy was inconclusive and Dr. Buie felt that he had a healthy

gut. I don't know what kind of analysis he did on all his gastric enzymes, the

report was " grossly normal " . At the time, we were all looking at the secretin

effect. I did ask about yeast, and I was told that it was something that

couldn't been proved by any accurate test, and that it wasn't recommended that

we just blindly treat for yeast. Sooo, we left with a lifetime prescription

for cyotec, which is about 40% effective, we vowed to stay in touch.

Now here we are 2 years later. The naltrexone was prescribed by our

neurologist, not for self injurious behavior (Thank God were don't have that

behavior on board), but for his wide mood swings. I think there was one study

that showed some efficacy in that area. Whenever we try to wean him off it, he

stops sleeping, and becomes very manic. Soooo it must block something.

So, enzymes start Monday morning- Here we go...
