Hi Cheryl

I lost weight after surgery due to lack of appetite.... due to surgery trauma

and to inactivity.

weight after surgery.

Don't know if any of you are the same as me and have gained weight

because of being in active due to hip problem? I have put on over a

stone in the last year. My doctors tell me not to fuss as I have a

BMI of 23 (so am tecnically not overweight) and that the weight will

come of on it's own after surgery. Is that true as I would have

thought the opposite again due to being inactive???? thanks cheryl x

Yup. I bloated pre-op. Post-op it was pretty easy to take it off, since I

could finally use biug muscles (legs!!) to move me. Immediately after

surgery you aren't going to be doing much, but by the 6 month mark you will

notice a difference. A good idea is to set weekly mileage goals. Running 5

miles a day is a pretty intimidating idea, but walking 5 miles can be done

in a bit more than an hour (be brisk). The trick is to work in 5 - 10

minutes here and there throughout the day. This requires no special

considerations and indeed, your osteo will probably encourage you to do it.

I don't konw about bein' inactive...I certainly don't do as much as

I'd like to 'cuz it just hurts/or WILL hurt shortly after

partaking...but I must honestly say I'm eatin' a LOT 'cuz I think I'm

a bit nervous about the whole thing! I'm not overweight either, but

I'd like to lose some of my " buddah " and strenghten the rest of it

before surgery....
